USB to Ethernet Adapter 2.5Gb, Aluminum Ethernet Adapter

Speedy unit, and works great for my data-center installs when there is no other network setup. Beats teh built inn 1G interface without a doubt. Just plug and play on Ubuntu and Windows, can't be easier. Cost wasn't bad either.

We upgraded our internet speed and had the sad surprise that both my WiFi card and Ethernet port from 2011 were capped at 120mbps. Thankfully I read the reviews and made sure I had the 3.0 USB port before purchasing (not to be confused with a standard 2.0). I plugged it in and did need to install the driver from the website for my computer to recognize it was an Ethernet connection. After I installed the driver, I unplugged the adapter and plugged it back in and it connected to the internet using the Ethernet immediately. It seems most people did not need to do this step from the reviews I read. If you have the 3.0 usb port, this is a great and easy option for an older desktop PC to get the most out of the internet speed you’re paying for without needing to upgrade any internal ports.

I got this since I got 5Gb internet I just needed something that'll give me half the speeds until I can get the 5gb dongle, this was plug n play no driver or update needed.

Windows 11 home PC. Plug and play with no extra drivers or settings needed. Operating at expected speeds (2Gbps). It has lost network connection and required me to crawl under the desk to unplug and reconnect which was inconvenient and may cause issues for gaming. Possible the design is intended for short term work laptop use. If this particular issue won't really affect you it is a great product. If the drop until you reconnect manually would be an issue you may want to go with a different approach to the USB network adapters.

So far, so good. We will see if it lasts.

I have a desktop PC with a 2.5Gb Ethernet and decided it was time that my LAN should also be operating at that speed. So that meant buying a corresponding switcher and bringing my not so old Windows 10 laptop (I bought in 2020) and my definitely old (but still kicking!) 2012 MacBook Pro "up to speed" with a pair of these adapters. This is my first experience with Ugreen products and I'm very satisfied with these adapters! These are nice looking, easy to handle and I was finally able to do file transfers at way higher speeds than when I had a 1Gb Ethernet LAN. One seemingly underappreciated feature is that the USB Type A connector is slim and unobtrusive, which is VERY handy on laptops where the USB ports are very close together, such as my MacBook! As much as I like this adapter (even the packaging is nice), I have the following quibbles: 1. The documentation doesn't specify what *kind* of Ethernet cable you'll need in order to get the full 2.5Gbit/s speed. I happen to have incrementally upgraded to Cat5e and Cat6 cables over the years for my LAN setup, but can everyone say that they have? 2. Although the documentation tells you where to download the driver you'll need, Ugreen's web site doesn't have *the latest* drivers. You're better off downloading them from Realtek's web site. And you should do this download BEFORE you connect this adapter to your network! These quibbles aside, I highly recommend this adapter for anyone that wants a quick, easy and inexpensive upgrade to their LAN speed and throughput.

Lasted 4 months. Don't buy Turned on computer and no internet. Checked adapter and was super hot, chip inside must have fried. Go with another brand. 2nd one in year also. First one got taken out by lightning (static) in area during a storm.

i'm middle aged, so when i got an offer to upgrade my internet to 2.5g speed, i had no idea i'd need an adapter. thank goodness they make tech like this for people like me, simple plug-and-play devices that require no tech skills or smarts. just MAKE SURE you have a 3.0 USB port. most modern PCs and laptops have them (after 2018-2019ish), but make sure before buying. the port should say 3.0 above or next to it, or you can google your PC model and find out whether you have 3.0 ports. trust me, i experimented plugging this adapter into a regular USB port, and it didn't work--no 2.5g download speed. but i put it in the 3.0 port, and presto, my speed was something like 2.7, even a little faster than advertised. it's a solid little unit, well built, some folks say you need to update its drivers but i didn't have to, it worked right out of the box (whew). it connected right away and i believe it's compatible with all Windows devices that have a 3.0 USB port. whoever dreams up and makes these handy little USB devices for those of us who don't upgrade our hardware every couple of months, i give you my heartfelt middle-aged thanks.

Raspberry Pi 5 und OpenMediaVault (OMV) Setup: Raspberry Pi 5 mit OMV, Minisforum UM 890 Pro (mit 2 fest verbauten 2.5 GBit Schnittstellen) und ein 8 Port 2.5 GBit Switch. Der Adapter soll entsprechend am Pi 5 verwendet werden, um den Datenaustausch zwischen Pi 5 und Mini PC zu beschleunigen. Installation: Plug & Play ist auch hier in der Theorie sehr schön, praktisch aber nicht existent, denn es stehen doch noch einige Hürden vor dem erwünschten Betrieb. Folgende Probleme sind erstmal zu lösen. Zum einen bekommt der Adapter nach dem Anstecken eine andere IP zugewiesen als der im Pi verbaute LAN-Port. Zum anderen muss die neue Schnittstelle OMV erstmal bekanntgegeben werden. Über den Router vergebe ich die vorher genutzt IP Adresse das Pi an den neuen Adapter. Mit einem Neustart des Pis wird die auch klaglos übernommen. Hätte ich eine neue IP genommen, hätte ich meine ganzen Verknüpfungen ändern müssen. In OMV muss nun die neue Schnittstelle eingerichtet werden. Dazu in OMV Einstellungen -> Netzwerk -> Schnittstellen -> "+" eine neue Schnittstelle hinzufügen. In meinem Fall auswählen Typ "Ethernet" und bei "Gerät" wird nun u.a. "enu1" angeboten. Das ist unser Adapter und entsprechend wird er ausgewählt. Test 1: Soweit erstmal alles eingerichtet, was einzurichten geht. Also ein erster Test mit einer 10GB txt Datei (kann man sich prima mit Windows erzeugen lassen). Upload (Schreiben). konst. 160MB/s Download (Lesen): konst. 270 MB/s Hä? Wieso denn dieser langsamere Upload? Der USB Stick, welcher als Speicher auf OMV fungiert, kann bis 900MB/s schreiben.Das Kabel hat CAT7; trotzdem nochmal getauscht. OMV nochmal durchsucht, ob ich nicht doch eine Einstellung übersehen habe. Trotzdem keine Veränderung. Hmmm....vielleicht könnte der Pi ja schnell genug schreiben, aber er bekommt die Daten einfach nicht schnell genug geliefert? Also mal den Ethernet Treiber auf dem Minisforum UM 890 Pro angeschaut. Der Gerätemanager zeigt Version 9.1 von 2015! Den Mini-PC hab ich wohlgemerkt seit ziemlich genau einem Jahr und zu diesem Zeitpunkt waren das die Treiber, die damit ausgeliefert wurden. Also nochmal von der Minisforum Supportseite einen (hoffentlich) aktuelleren heruntergeladen. Nach dem Starten des Treiber-Setups zeigt mir Windows eine Virenwarnung und blockt die weitere Installation. Nochmal in der Info des Treibers nachgelesen, da steht, ich soll das Setup als Administrator ausführen. Machts das besser? Sicher nicht!!! Sowas kommt nicht auf mein System. Also direkt bei Realtek auf der Webseite geschaut und siehe da, es gibt einen aktuellen Treiber von 2026. Installiert (ohne Virenwarnung), Reboot und.... Test 2: Jetzt sieht es so aus: Upload (Schreiben). konst. 270MB/s Download (Lesen): konst. 270 MB/s Und nun läuft die Kiste wie gewünscht. Der Adapter ist top, mit den anderen Treibern von Minisforum werd ich mich nochmal beschäftigen. Interessant ist, dass das Problem mal wieder da liegt, wo man zuletzt sucht. Stand heute bekommt der Adapter von mir 5 von 5 Sternen. Falls er mal Zicken macht, gibts hier ein Update. Update 1: Und hier ist es schon. Fährt man OMV via Shutdown herunter und trennt den Pi vom Strom, wird der Adapter beim Reboot nicht erkannt. In meinem Fall half das Abziehen und Wiedereinstecken des USB-A Steckers des Adapters.

I am using this to connect my Raspberry Pi 5 that is used as a server, to the rest of my network. The chipset (Realtek RTL8156BG) is part of the new Linux kernels, and thus does not need any drivers on modern Linux distros, and probably also does not need a manual install on Windows 11. It has been stable and can provide the throughput it is advertised at on my Rasberry Pi. It will not work at 2.5G speeds on a Switch (2) though, and AFAIK does not work on XBOX Series X/S.

Fonctionne parfaitement, je suis passé d'un ping de 2 ms avec un débit descendant/ascendant de 0.9 G à un ping de 1 ms avec un débit descendant/ascendant de 2,4 G soit 3 fois plus. Seul petit soucis, je suis sous Windows 10 et l'adapteur n'a pas été reconnu par défaut. Je n'ai jamais pu trouver le driver sur le site UGREEN. En faisant un peu de recherche sur google, j'ai compris que l'adapteur était équipé d'une puce Realtek RTL8156BG. Il faut donc faire une recherche Google "Realtek RTL8156BG driver" Le fichier d'installation se trouve sur le site RealTek et à partir de là, tout fonctionne parfaitement. My 2 cents :-)

Been a few months of non-stop usage, works fine.
