I used to have Foscam cameras but this time decided to try a different brand. For an IP camera this one is very difficult to setup and has a lot of privacy security risks.An IP camera should be very easy to setup (i.e. very similar to setting up a WiFi router, connect to the camera AP, initialize account, setup admin password and WiFi credentials and restart). Instead you need to use their app, which just by looking at the permissions requested look very, very, shady.You can't opt out to their cloud service and NEED to register an account just to setup WiFi. Once you bind your device to their cloud, you can't unbind it without explicitly entering a support ticket. Even if you hard reset the device, it will keep associated to their cloud.That means that regardless of what you do, as soon as the device has internet access it can be monitored from their cloud.I'm confident most 5 star reviews are fake, so please do not judge just the rating and do your due diligence.Even though they sale as a value proposition simplicity and security, there are just too many dark patterns in their approach and judging by the FAQ sections and quality of the apps, they just don't seem to have the engineering task force to make their cloud secure, so buy only if your ok with a foreign operations control room watching your back.

My original impressions were fairly good when I bought this camera a few months back. I had already owned a couple Annke IP Cameras, and I had mixed feelings about them.This one did have a few improvements (or so I thought) The push notifications work, and the remote app was at least usable--that is until a little over a month ago.All of a sudden I could no longer log in to the app from my Iphone to view my cameras--username not recognized. I tried calling Annke--they (a) have very odd tech support hours, but (b) it doesn't matter anyway, because they NEVER answer the phone even when calling during those hours. After dropping them an email--I hear back a couple days later and am told that there was a problem with an update which locked some users account, and that I would need to "take pictures of the labels on my IP cams, send to them so that they can unbind them from my old account. I was instructed to wait a couple days, open a new account, and then add the cameras.So I got my ladder out, went around the house trying to get legible pictures of this tiny text on these labels. Huge inconvenience for a botched update-- but at LEAST I'd be able to use my cams again (I thought.) Sent in the pictures, waited a few days, created a new account -- could not add cameras "attached to another account" OK, so now I have one account with 3 attached IP cams that I AM LOCKED OUT OF, and a new account that I can log into, but cannot add any cameras.This was about 5 weeks ago, after calling no fewer than 10 times, sending repeated emails, including resending the label pictures--FINALLY I see an email from Annke. It says "WE NEED YOU TO SEND PICTURES OF YOUR LABELS SO WE CAN UNBIND" Ugggh...so, for a THIRD time I send pictures....I also request to be let known if there is a problem unbinding from my old account or if there is someone to talk with if there is an issue. This was about a week and a half ago. Again.....nothing. I try calling...no way. Email....nothing.Finally yesterday, I get an email from Annke, I am all excited...."this is going to be it! I am going to get my cameras back!" I open the email, and it is a form letter asking me to rate my experience with tech support. Hahaha.I am filing a complaint with BBB, and making sure as many people as possible no the incompetence of this company.

What a shame this camera paired quickly did everything it was supposed to do as long as you are on Wi-Fi as soon as you step away Into LTE horribly laggy, can’t even pan or tilt, kept saying network is unstable and reconnecting Every 10 seconds ,just totally unacceptable once you leave your house. Motion tracking was really a joke, the camera will follow you out of one side of your room and never return to the center of the room ,so anybody can walk into the other side of the room or a dog run from one side of the room to the other and the camera will be stuck looking in a corner. Picture quality is OK night vision is OK just got tired of it staring at a wall instead of the room.

When used for home security purposes, the camera quickly and efficiently notifies the user via their cell phone of any motion alerts with the helpful option to listen to your surveillance or engage in live, 2-way conversation. The night time functionality of the camera is very impressive, with clear and high quality images via the camera’s infrared light technology. The ability to see images from the camera on my Echo Show via the Amazon Alexa app was easy to establish, and the interaction between these devices is flawless. Overall, this camera does the job it is intended to do plus more, and exceeded my expectations, all at a very reasonable price.
