AIRCARE Essick Air 22.7l Whole House Humidifier, White

Although I'm satisfied with this unit, it is made with the thinnest possible plastic and feels pretty cheap. It has 3 fan settings, the second of which operates at a frequency that makes the unit shake rattle and is, IMO, completely unusable. That's OK because we use it on the highest setting in a larger house with two HVAC units. We have it in an open staircase area so it circulates and supplements an HVAC mister set up in one unit. It has been unusually cold lately and in our setup, at high speed, this unit can only get its immediate area up to 30%. When it was a little warmer, we could hit 40%. Unfortunately, this makes so much noise on the high setting, that my wife turns it down at night, and it cannot keep up.This unit puts out a lot of water, so it's doing its job, and in fact as it runs all day it has to be refilled before the day is over in our setting. While relatively easy to fill, you have to turn the fan down to the lowest setting or completely off because it will blow water back in your face at the high setting. LOL. The fill opening is behind the grate where air blows out, and is shallow enough that using a bucket to fill means water splashes against the filter and the max fill line. I would rather pour water directly into the basin with a larger opening. We have also slipped and dumped water on the floor, so while acceptable, the fill could be a little better IMO.To sum up, in our setting which is asking it to humidify too large an area, it nevertheless puts out a lot of water per day, but requires the highest setting, which we consider very noisy. The lowest setting is whisper quiet but does not put out enough water for our use. Still, it's easy enough to use, and a pretty good value, hence the rating despite some criticisms.

The humidity in my condo (~1100 sq-ft) goes down to about 12% in the winter, so I need a whole-home humidifier. I used the Aircare D46 last year and it was just OK. Not powerful enough for my whole house, but it got things up in the 30% range which at least wasn't awful. Filling up the containers was annoying though, so I decided to get a larger and more powerful unit that I could fill easily. I ended up settling on this one. I've used it for about 2 weeks, so I now have a good idea of how well it works.First off, filling this thing is so much easier than my last unit. I just take a pitcher filled with tap water, and dump it in. It's that easy and makes me wish I had bought a "top-fill" unit ages ago. As for the speed settings, low (1) is pretty quiet and seems to be able to keep my humidity level at around 37% which is good for my place. I fill the water daily, but I believe it would last about 2 days before going empty on this setting. The 2nd setting is a little useless as it's quite loud, so you may as well use the the setting (3) which is a little louder, but barely and works better. I personally set the humidity to 45%, and it's able to keep up as long as I keep it filled with water. I'd say the full tank lasts about 24hrs on this setting. It does turn off once it hits 45%, but it doesn't turn off very often, so I think 45% is somewhat maxing out it's capabilities for my home. If I set it to 50% it would likely always stay on, and maybe go up to 47%-ish. Anyways, I have it on (3) when I'm not in the same room, and (1) when I am. My humidity level is always between a healthy 35-45% as a result, which I am happy with.Overall my only complain is that it's white and doesn't fit my decor at all. I can live with that as long as it keep working though.

This is a really great unit. works incredibly well and is easy to fill, you don't have to take the top off, just the grille at the front of the unit. It does a great job of monitoring the humidity and it’s easy to set up the fan speed and desired humidity level. Fan speed 1 is quiet, 2 and 3 quite noisy, but you don't need the higher speeds except perhaps when you first set it up as it reaches the desired humidity from very dry air in only a few hours. Our air was at 19% humidity and reached the 45% we set it up for in 3-4 hours…..that was running it at the #2 fan speed, #3 was too noisy for us to tolerate for long. Since then it has maintained the humidity perfectly on fan speed #1. It doesn’t have a big footprint. I am using filtered tap water in it. This is a great unit and I really recommend it. VERY happy with this purchase.

Quoi de plus simple?Décembre 2018Le 1er appareil a refusé de fonctionner quand je l'ai remis en marche l'automne suivant, 1 mois après la fin de la garantie. C'est le module électronique qui est défectueux et il ne se vend pas séparément.J'ai quand même acheté un 2e appareil parce qu'il a un grand réservoir de trois jours. J'espère qu'il durera plus d'une saison.

We have a cabinet-style AirCare humidifier that's been in use for almost a decade on our second floor and while it works well, with the temperatures dropping so much and with the heat being on non-stop it was getting defeated -- low 30's for humidity when we have it targeting closer to 50. Even with it at F2 (F1-F3 with F1 being low) it just couldn't crack mid-30's. Our downstairs was at a whopping 24% humidity and our house hates it -- seams appearing in the hardwood, drywall getting micro-cracks (plus SO MUCH static which the cats just love...).We got this delivered before the supposed big storm of 2026 and got it quickly assembled and filled. It comes with wheels which is perfect because I could roll it over to the kitchen sink to fill it vs. having to fill buckets, which is what I do for our cabinet model. There is some trick to aligning the filter correctly: it's pretty obvious that it needs to go into specific slots on the bottom of the humidifier but it ALSO needs to go BEHIND the slots on the sides, otherwise the filter will fall forward once the fan is on. This is covered in pictures in others' reviews but it's an important note that I missed at first (and was wondering why the humidity wasn't picking up much).Unlike our cabinet fan, the fan on this unit is sucking air in vs. ejecting it -- so make sure you don't have anything loose around the top or it will get ingested. The air is forced over/through the wick/filter and ejected through the front grill.Fan speeds:This unit, too, has three fan speeds; low is barely audible and you can hardly tell its on. Medium is loud but has a timbre that is grating to me and gave me a headache. High (what we set it on most of the time) is probably technically louder than medium but it's a low-pitch sound so is less disturbing. Again, our downstairs is ~20% humidity right now so I'm going for maximum effect over noise control.Blinking 20:I saw another post comment that their unit was broken -- this means that the humidity being registered is below 20%. Ours did this when I had the filter installed incorrectly and the humidity wouldn't go up. We opened an exterior door which caused the humidity to spike down and were then greeted with this. If your unit is blinking 20, either it's really dry where it's located or the humidistat is kicked (or being blocked).For anyone who hadn't owned a large humidifier before, these are not marvels of engineering -- they feel very flimsy and cheap; this is a feature not a bug. The containment unit is just there to hold water so the fans can blow air over the wicks/filters and get that water out to the space. If you're having to refill it regularly, it's working -- you may just have a very large space or one that's very dry. Remember that when you apply humidity, EVERYTHING that's porous will absorb the moisture BEFORE the air is able to hold onto it. If you are starting from scratch (low %) it will take DAYS to holistically improve (or you can buy multiples but these are expensive).Our first floor is at a solid 30% after 24 hours of running on high and our second floor, because less is being taken by the first floor, its in the lower 40's which is really our goal since this is where all the bedrooms are (plus the static).It does exactly what it is built for exactly the way it's supposed to so four stars; make sure you read and follow the instructions!
