Fractal Design Define R5 Window Side Panel - Titanium Grey

Background: First time doing a PC build.UsabilityHad no problems wiring everything up, plenty of extra cable ties and places to wire cables.NoiseIt's very very quiet. Only time i can ever hear noise is when my GPU is set to max but that only happens when i manually put it there.LooksCase also looks really good, build materials are nice and it's not that big to boot.AirflowAirflow is great even with the top covered. I added an extra fan (Fractal Design GP-14) based on forum reccomendations and use a pull/pull/push to create postive pressure and my components sit at 50-60 degrees on full load. (gtx980 + 4790k).

I purchased this as an update for the Define R3 case i currently had, the R3 was the first case I worked with that was just a complete joy to build, every other case I have used has had some niggly issues that made PC building infuriating. I was also changing cooler from the Noctua NHD14 to a Corsair H110i water cooler so changing case was wise while having the whole system apart. The window panel is the perfect size without looking too childish.The H110 cooler fits nicely in the top of the case but you have to remove all 3 panels from the top of the case, the rear 120mm fan and also the 5.25" bay to allow it to fit. I wasn't using a DVD drive in this PC so it wasn't an issue but its worth bearing in mind if you want this case with a larger water cooler.The Define R3 was totally silent but you lose that effectiveness on the R5, especially if you water cooling, When the upper panels are removed from the top of the case you only have a mesh grill so no sound absorption is possible. This case also isn't lined with acoustic material like the R3 but it wouldn't be worthwhile as there are so many open joints.I have been delighted with this case so far, very easy to work with, incredible build quality and looks amazing! Would highly recommend any Fractal Design cases.

This is a very simplistic looking case with ample amount of room and great cable managment. This is a great case, the sound deadening material they used works really well. However it makes the case super heavy.I haven't had any heating issue. As my system is air cooled and I have had long gaming sessions and being used daily. It comes with two fans one at the front and one at the back. There are removeable vents on top of the case wich can mount any type of fan or radiator.I have one problem with this case is that the hard drive rack rattles, which it drove me crazy. I had to remove one of the removeable bay/section to make the rattle stops. Also the instruction was unclear on how to remove the removeable vents on top resulting me snapping one of the leggs on the clip.In my opinion, this is a great case for people who loves to have a quitet computer and a not so flashy case to blend in.

Arrived next day after order, although scheduled for 16 jan - 03 feb. So very quick delivery, +1. The case is made out of a sturdy metal that really gives it a solid feeling, and the little legs on the bottom raise it a little which helps with dust prevention if on a carpet surface! You can fit 140mm fans in it, and a 290mm gpu without any tweaks, yet for me i have a 1070 asus strix aura so its a little bigger, which means i have to remove some of the drive bays, but that isnt a problem as it is very easy to do and you wont lose all of the bays. The window is nice, and i like the simple design. Very good against dust, and really effective for its price! To clean the filters, just take of the cover on the front, top and bottom and its easy to access! Definately reccomend.

Myself, my son and a friend have all bought this case and functionally I have no issues with it, all the positive comments I see here are correct. However there is an issue with the clear "plastic" side window panels, they all exhibit really quite ugly smears in the plastic panel which really show up badly if you add lights to your case. We have all tried to gently remove the marks but with no success. I believe this is a manufacturing defect and you should take this into consideration when considering this case. If anyone out there has had success in cleaning this plastic panel please let me know how you did it and share your advice with others here on Amazon. It really does take the shine off a very decent case so I am about to contact Fractal and see what they have to say.

This is a really well-made case with plenty of room inside for all sorts of options. It is really big and probably overkill for me as I don't have any drives in the build - the only hard drive is a  Crucial MX300 275GB M.2 (2280) Internal Solid State Drive - CT275MX300SSD4  on the motherboard.The great thing about the case is how quiet it is. I have a stock cooler on a  AMD Ryzen 5 1500X Desktop CPU-AM4(Quad Core,3.5GHz -3.7GHz Turbo,65W)  and two fans on a  Asus DUAL-GTX1060-O3G NVIDIA GeForce OC Edition 3 GB GDDR5 192 Bit Memory PCI Express 3 Graphics Card - Black, 24 X 4 X 11.5 cm  and yet it is still very quiet.Comes with two silent case fans and I also added a  BeQuiet 500 W Straight 10 Modular Power Supply Unit  which is quiet too.I opted for a discounted returned case that has a window on the side and I must say it is a nice touch to be able to see the fans going round. It apparently does not add much at all to the noise levels.

Difficile de trouver à redire à ce boitier. C'est le troisième define R que j'achète après une déception du côté de chez Corsair et des grandes tours flashy monté pour des potes qui m'ont juste fait constaster que Fractal est au boitier ce que Noctua est au ventirad. On a rien de voyant mais tout respire la qualité et tout a été pensé.C'est simple cette tour est adapté à tout! Parfaite pour le silence avec ses parois recouvertes mousses antibruit qui fonctionne au top. 2 cages pour disques dur à l'avant permettent de caser 8 disques dur (pour un NAS home made je n'ai pas trouvé mieux à ce prix) plus 2 SSD qui viennent se planquer au dos de la carte mère. On peut retirer les cages complétement pour une config jeux sans disques laissant le flux d'air frais refroidir directement processeur et carte mère ou laisser que la cage de 3 disques du bas qui du fait de sa faible hauteur ne bloquera pas non plus le flux d'air.A noter que sur le haut du boitier on peut retirer trois plaques pour pouvoir installer un ventirad de watercooling jusqu'à 3x120mm.Au final ce que j'apprécie le plus sur le long terme, c'est les filtres anti-poussières proche de la perfection car il ne laisse vraiment pas passer la poussière et ne sont pas galère à enlever comme sur la plupart des boitiers passés entre mes mains. On ouvre la porte avant et on peut directement aspiré le filtre sans l'enlever.A noter que ce que Fractal entend par boitier Titanium/Argent c'est seulement la porte, tout le reste est noir...

Nach etlicher Recherche und vielen verschiedenen Testberichten entschied ich mich für diese Hülle. Eine perfekte Wahl wie sich rausstellen sollte.Ich möchte im folgenden garnicht so sehr auf die technischen Details eingehen, da diese im Detail nachgelesen werden können. Viel eher möchte ich die Punkte erwähnen die mir zusätzlich positiv und negativ aufgefallen sind. Beim Aufbauen und im Gebrauch, sowie Optik.Negativ:Anfangen werde ich mit dem negativen Punkt, da ich nur einen finden konnte. Im Grunde genommen ist es das Seitenglas. Hierbei handelt es sich um Plastik (natürlich durchsichtig), aber es ist halt nicht so wertig wie Echtglas..für mich persönlich war es aber nicht tragisch..gemerkt habe ich es aber besonders als der Staub (vermutlich durch die statische Aufladung) daran haften blieb.Positiv:Die positiven Punkte überwiegen bei dieser Hülle eindeutig!Design:Wie schon auf den Bildern zu erkennen, ist das Design sehr edel und trägt nicht auf. Dezent aber sehr wertig sieht es aus! Besonders gut ist die Front und der obere Teil mit den Knöpfen. Besonders der Powerbutton ist ein Augenschmaus! :D Auch die Beine sehen wertig aus. Insgesamt einfach schön anzuschauen!Handling und Zubehör:Die Hülle ist ziemlich Modular. D.H. man kann vieles umbauen, ausbauen und nach seinen eigenen Wünschen anpassen. Ich gebe zu, ich habe zuvor nie einen Transfer von einer Hülle in die andere vorgenommen. Aber selbst ich als Laie habe es mit dem Handbuch das dabei ist hinbekommen!! Auch die Türe habe ich so verändert, dass diese nun von links geöffnet wird. (zuvor ging es von rechts auf) Und es war ein Kinderspiel. Klasse sind auch die Staubfilter (sehr einfach zu entfernen), sowie die Lüfter (sehr leise!!) kein Vergleich zu meinen alten. Wenn man ein Headset auf hat fragt man sich des öfteren ob überhaupt noch der PC an ist. :DWas auch Klasse ist sind die ganzen Schrauben die dabei sind. Über HDD, SD, (Festplattenschrauben, bis hin zu den Motherboardschrauben. Alles ist dabei!Ein besonderer Bonus für mich war der Frontheadset-Eingang. Als ich nur testen wollte, ob dieser Funktioniert steckte ich das Headset von den hinteren Anschlussen an den vorderen um. Mich hat es fast von den Socken gehauen. Ich hatte ungelogen eine Qualitätssteigerung des Sounds von 80%. Vielleicht liegt es an meinem alten Mainboard..ich denke da wird es einigen so ergehen wie mir! Einfach mal ausprobieren!Das Kabelmanagement ist auch 1A! Alles lässt sich einfach und effektiv verstauen und fixieren. (siehe Bild)Preis/Leistung: Ich habe die Hülle für Rund 100Euro gekauft und hatte sogar Hüllen in betracht gezogen die um die 200€ kosten. Ich muss sagen selbst vor diesen Edelhüllen braucht sich diese nicht zu verstecken! Ich liebe sie jetzt schon und für den Preis ein absoluter Hammer!Kühlleistung: Ich habe eine GTX 1070 und diese zuvor nie Overclocken können, da mein Gehäuse nicht genug Kühlen konnte. Dieses Gehäuse war sogar mit den eingebauten Lüftern in der Lage mein Graka immer unter 78 Grad zu halten! Auch bei Volllast! Bei dem Benchmarktest Timespy erreichte ich zuvor immer 4600-700 Punkte. Nun habe ich sogar die 5000er Marke geknackt und das bei stabiler Leistung + geringer Lautstärke!!!Was ich noch zuletzt erwähnen will:Ich habe viele viele Test gelesen..hatte zuvor auch den Gedanken eine Mini-Hülle zu kaufen, aber davon kann ich abraten. Eine Faustregel die ich aus den Tests ableiten konnte. Je kleiner die Hülle, desto luftdurchlässiger muss diese sein (daraus folgt = Lauter).Damit die Teile ausreichend gekühlt werden können. Je besser gedämmt eine Hülle ist, desto schlechter ist die Kühlleistung (da die Lüft schlechter durchdringt). UND je größer eine Hülle desto einfacher ist eben die Möglichkeit zu dämmen UND zu kühlen! Aber wer will schon einen riesen Schrank als PC?Mit dieser Hülle erreichen Sie die goldene Mitte!! Sie ist so kompakt wie möglich und bietet bei guter Dämmung immernoch eine gute Kühlleistung! Verglichen mit anderen Hüllen war diese in jedem Bereich immer unter den Top plätzen. (Lautstärke, Kühlleistung ; im Verhältnis zur Größe)Ich kann diese Hülle nur jedem ans Herz legen! Kauft euch das Teil, Ihr werdet es nicht bereuen! Von mir gibt es 5 Sterne + Sahnehäupchen! :-)

Un design épuréproduit de qualité avec des finitions exemplairesj'ai pu y caser un maximum de disques pour ma config serveur : 8 SATA 3.5, et il reste encore 2emplacements SSD a l’arrière de la CM et 2 5.1/4il y a des passages pour les cables, au final aucun cable ne vient cacher la CM : super élégant.En ravanche manque peu etre de fun pour les gamers ;-)

Uno dei migliori case della sua categoria. Silenziosissimo e molto versatile, permette delle configurazioni di quasi ogni tipo, il tutto occupando il giusto spazio. Comodissimo lo sportello frontale al quale è possibile cambiare il lato di apertura da desta a sinistra e ottimo il fatto di poter smontare completamente tutti gli alloggiamenti frontali (per eventuali radiatori fino a 360mm). Il sistema modulare nella parte alta permette di chiudere eventualmente gli spazi che non vengono utilizzati per le ventole così da migliorare la silenziosità dell'insieme. Nella mia configurazione attuale il tutto resta quasi totalmente inudibile nonostante i componenti hi-end. Pienamente soddisfatto!

I have one from last year. Just had to do it again. No complains whatsoever. Totally love this case.
