Amazing Tv design and performance!!!
This is an amazing TV in every sense - look, picture quality, innovative speaker technology and responsiveness. I haven’t been able to enjoy and maximize the smart features because I’m an iOS and Mac user through and through. However, it hasn’t affected my satisfaction since almost all my content comes through Xfinity and Amazon.

Fantastic Picture with Great Integrated Sound!
I got this TV a week ago, and to save you a lot of time and frustrations with the 4K HDR 60Hz and Dolby Vision, make sure "Enhanced format" is turned on in the settings menu: Home > Settings > External inputs > HDMI signal format > Enhanced format. This is a key setting that unless turned on, Dolby Vision won't work with the external receiver. For some reasons, devices like AppleTV connected directly to the TV work, but without this option, signals passing through the receiver never get either 4K HDR 60Hz or Dolby Vision. I spent days on diagnosing this issue by updating the firmware, several factory reset procedures, taking my Marantz receiver to the store, factory resetting the receiver, getting better HDMI cables (Up to AudioQuest Chocolate), and so anything else I could think of just to find out this option is turned off by default and has to be turned on manually. By the way, keep in mind that even with this setting turned on, these so called enhanced formats only work on HDMI2 and HDMI3 ports.I come from the best Plasma TV ever made (the legendary Panasonic P65ZT60) with great expectations, and I am impressed. The picture quality and 4K HDR (once you get it to work) are fantastic. I see the same 3D effects I once noticed when I got my plasma with even deeper and darker black levels on this TV. Whether it's worth the premium and the upgrade is debatable, but if you have the funds, why not!On 4K HDR and Dolby Vision contents, my Marantz SR5011 won't show any of the OSD info including volume changes. I had to turn the "BRAVIA Sync control" on, and use the TV volume to control the Marantz's: Home > Settings > External inputs > BRAVIA Sync settings > BRAVIA Sync control > On.The light sensor does a good job for adjusting the brightness in daylight, but I find the illumination too much for night time. To save myself from changing "Peak luminance" setting every time, I connected both Monitor 1 and Monitor 2 output of my receiver to HDMI3 and HDMI2 ports on the TV respectively, and I did set the luminance on HDMI2 to off: Action Menu > Picture adjustments > Advanced settings > Brightness > Peak luminance > Off. This way, I simply select HDMI2 when I want to watch something at night, and HDMI3 for daylight. It is not perfect, but it's better than getting blind by the TV before going to sleep.Software is not this TV's forte. The Android OS is sometimes annoying. It's slow to respond in some weird situations, but it's manageable. Overall, it’s a good TV with great picture, fantastic sound (in case you don't have external speakers), and it only has some minor issues.*** Update August 2018 ***Sony has announced the new A9F series. Highlights of A9F are Android Oreo, X1 Ultimate with object based picture enhancements, Surface Audio Plus with three vertical actuator instead of two on A8F, and center channel speaker terminals for using the TV as center speaker. All of these new features are extremely nice to have, but Sony has went backwards with the stand for A9F: again, the screen is titled to the back when stand mounted which many people hated on A1E. The center channel terminal is also a weird design on A9F. It decodes the amplified signal, then amplifies it again with the TV internal amplifier. First impressions say this approach introduces lags to the sound. Sony, if you're listening, you could just give us RCA line input jacks because most receivers have pre-amp speaker outputs! If you had to have the speaker terminals, you could give us both RCA and Banana ports with a switch to select line or amplified inputs. Well, at least Sony gets points for trying, but A9F is not perfect yet. I would pick heavily discounted sale A8Fs on any given day over A9F.
