Excellent tool. We had to use this to drain a few gallons of water from a heater to change the anode. Without it, would not be possible, the valve was clogged. You don't need high pressure from a compressor, we cleared the valve just using a tire inflator. Yes, you should be replacing your water heater anode every 7-8 years to prevent scale and tank corrosion.

This Sediment Buster is a must have when you drain your water heater - ESPECIALLY after having your well worked on! I just recently had my well worked on and it caused all sorts of water clarity problems due to the turbulence the work created. After two weeks of "waiting" for the water to totally clear up I tackled the task of draining my water heater. I could not believe how much crud had settled there - in fact when I first opened the valve a glob of mud came out and then clogged! Luckily I had my Sediment Buster attached and a quick spurt of compressed air and the water was draining again! I kept using my air compressor periodically during the entire draining process. After refilling the tank is did a short drain and my water was all clear! The Sediment Buster worked perfectly. Some users say theirs leaked leak but the only water I noticed is where I expected it to happen - at the air valve when you remove the compressed air, because a little water is going to seep out when you remove the air connection before that valve closes again. I am thoroughly impressed and 100% pleased with the Sediment Buster and how easy it was to use and its durability. Well made and so easy to use.

Worked just as advertised. I followed Sediment Buster's instructions and it worked flawlessly. Because my water heater has not been drained since it was installed in June 2024, I elected to follow the 'drain instructions' vs just flushing it. I used an air compressor set at 45 psi and injected air many times during the draining process...worked well and was easy. I monitored the sediment by having the water heater drain through and old screen, and surprisingly, there was not much sediment. Living in San Antonio, we have hard water so I expected more. Regardless, I highly recommend this tool for all DIYer's.

Would be interesting to put a camera into the tank to see how much is being removed. Easy to use with a bicycle pump

A good product - the directions were easy to follow and it worked as advertised. While I didn’t get the massive amount of junk flowing from my hot water heater, it obviously cleared it out.
