Great Fan
This fan is quieter than I expected after reading the reviews here. It's also bigger than I expected -- it completely fills my regular-size Craftsman-style bungalow window -- I didn't mount it, I just set it in the window and closed the sash to hold it in place. It's pretty light and easy to move around, and the power cord is plenty long. The three settings are great. On low, it creates a pleasant breeze. On high, it moves a fair amount of air. It has cooled the house off every night (daytime temps in the low ~90° F, coolest night time temp low 70° F). I was hoping it would move even more air, but it does the job. As for noise, it makes the same amount of noise as other big fans I've owned. I have to turn the TV up a bit when the fan's running, but nothing major. My only complaint about this fan is that the control knob is hard to turn and it's very smooth, so I couldn't get a good grip on it to turn the fan on or change the settings. I put a small diameter, wide rubber band around it (like the rubber band that comes on a bunch of broccoli) and that fixed the problem. (I've including a photo of the rubber band on the knob.) Without that rubber band, I would have a hard time changing the setting of the fan, especially if my hand was sweaty. Lasko should consider replacing the current knob with one that's easier to grip. Because some reviewers complained about the bearings seizing up after the first year, I decided to get the 4-year extended warranty. Hopefully I won't have to use it, but it gives me peace of mind.

Better than the old ones!!
I've been buying these fans for about 9 or 10 years. They last for years running day and night, I hardly turn it off. I use it as an exhaust fan and it keeps my 1 floor home cool and free of smoke! This one is quieter than the old ones and more powerful, I just hope it lasts just as long or longer because it's 3 times the price than they use to be all those years ago lol as long as it does last that long (which I think it will) it's worth the price but would buy a backup if it was a little cheaper

Great fan, could be quieter
We use this as an exhaust fan in a small bathroom with one window and no other ventilation. It replaced the exact same make and model fan that was in that widow for a number of years. We use it mainly in the hot and humid months and it runs 24 hours a day then. In the winter we use it sometimes when showering. One of it’s best features is that it mounts on the inside of the window frame so if we want we can close the window (an older wood framed double hung) during the winter and open it easily to run the fan as necessary. To do this we just keep a screen in that window on the outside year round. It has 3 speeds and really moves the air on high speed. It is exactly like the fan it replaced but for some reason is noisier. The noise comes from the chassis and mounting frame and I have tightened all screws as much as possible but that doesn’t do much. The noise is not that bad but it is baffling why it’s a problem with this fan and not the first one. I still think it is a good value product and would still buy it again.

Absolutely amazing!
This whole house fan window unit has been a game changer. Living in an old apartment our a/c isn’t super reliable. We were having to run the a/c pretty much 24/7 in the summer to keep the apartment semi cool, our electric bill was crazy and it’s not good for the environment. Using this at night was able to cool my 1200 square foot apartment down from 78 to 70 in a few hours. I highly recommend this to anyone who lives in an apartment or a smaller home and anyone looking to save a lot on their energy bill. My parents have a whole house fan ceiling unit so I grew up knowing how amazing whole house fan units are. I use it to suck the cold air in from open windows around the apartment and push the warm air out through the fan — this is the fastest way to cool down your entire home. I do recommend the intake if you need to cool down one room quickly, it does an incredible job at that. I did buy the 3 year protection plan, fingers crossed I don’t need it, but whenever this does go out for good I’ll definitely be purchasing another one.

The Perfect Fan
I use this fan in my garage so I can exhaust cigar smoke. I have been looking for the right ventilation without making additions to the garage and it is perfect. It has a little sound to it, but I think it’s because of the power. I can still hear my tv without turning the volume way up. Before this fan I had to crack my garage door and it made the garage cold. No more opening the door and no more complaints from the wife about the smoke. I would recommend this fan for any smoker.

Decent fan but they removed so many of the prior features
I had my previous Lasko 16-inch window fan for over 25 years, and it was great until it finally failed, so I purchased this replacement version. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed with the changes they have made. The previous version had a built-in timer and an automatic control that was thermostatically controlled. This one has none of those features. It works fine as a fan, but I had to add an external timer so that it will shut off at night after 3-4 hours and I really miss the thermostatic control as well. Also, they included a template for installing screws that was off by over 3 inches.
