Instantly fixed all of my problems
I've been spending the past little while switching the lights in my recording booth from 5v WS2812B RGB strips to 12v SK6812 RGBW ones. Was eventually ableto jerry-rig together something that worked with my existing microcontroller, but it blinked a lot, which was a sign that the data line was having issues. Not wanting to purchase extra parts, I tried using a "sacrificial regulator" pixel as suggested by some comments on Reddit. While trying to set this up, it did not work at all even after triple-checking and redoing everything; somehow the original esp32 board I was using even stopped connecting and many hours were wasted trying to resuscitate it. I then bought a much smaller esp32-3C Super Mini and wasted many hours researching and soldering in attempts to get the setup to work with that. Eventually I gave up on trying to make it work without a level shifter, but after looking at the soldering diagram for it, I decided I didn't want to deal with more DIY headaches. After confirming this device has a data level shifter as well as a voltage converter (so the esp32 does not need a separate 5v input) I ordered it and soldered the other side of the 3-pin connector to the light strip. Then I plugged in my 12v power supply (I happened to already have one that fit the barrel jack, even!) and plugged in the 3-pin connector for the lights... and IMMEDIATELY it worked with no issues whatsoever! I set up the software end with no problems either and now it's happily plugging along exactly how this project had been intended in the first place! Highly recommend this device; it's a bit more expensive than DIY'ing an esp32 + data level shifter + voltage converter, but it's a LOT simpler and cleaner. The few bucks extra are more than worth the hours it saves.

Works like a charm
Drop-in replacement for an LED strip I bought a couple of years ago, and setup was easy enough (helped if you have a network scanner app to show you itโs IP address when initially connecting to itโs built-in WiFi, but maybe I missed the easy way to find it). WLED control is so much better than the app that came with the LED strip! Edit: I did indeed miss the easy way to connect to the device via WiFi on my phoneโฆ after connecting to the WLED-AP network a browser window automatically pops up connected to the device (just like a hotel WiFi where you would put the room #, for example) and you can control it right from there, and get the connection details.

Plug and play WLED controller that actually works
I have messed around with DIY ESP32 setups trying to get addressable LED strips running and it is always a headache with level shifters and separate power supplies. This controller handles all of that in one clean little package and the first time I plugged it in everything just worked. Comes with WLED pre-installed so you are up and running within minutes. The mic sound mode is a fun bonus for reactive lighting. My only note is the instructions could be better and there is not a ton of documentation out there for troubleshooting but if your setup works out of the box you will not need any of that anyway.

Runs current (15.1) WLED and connects to my phone easily. The button is worthless.
Out of the 6+ wled pre-programmed controllers I've bought, this "mini" one is the only one I know that it will for sure will connect to wled via your phone. The button on the device doesn't do anything, and there is no QC code or more detailed instructions online. At least it consistently works.

Stopped working
A couple of months in and it stopped working. Now it flickers, but doesnt stay on.... I dont know how to diagnose it.

Not Great
I had high hopes for this, it seemed the most simple and clean way to get a basic set of LED strips up and running. However, it never really worked at all. There are no lights or so on the device to indicate if it's on and doing anything, so I was stuck constantly refreshing the wifi page on my phone to see if it was alive at all, and trying to push the button, unplug/replug power, etc. Eventually popped up, got the wifi settings added, LED settings, etc., but after I unplugged it again to get everything installed after testing, it never turned back on. Tried different power supplies, trying to reset by holding down the button, and so on but it did not work again. Wasted a ton of time. I'd recommend a different, better reviewed/tested product.

most boring controller ever ๐
I plugged it in, it worked, zero hassle. such a pleasant surprise when things just work out of the box. it shipped with wled 0.14.4 installed, updated to wled 0.15.3, standard esp32 build (not v4, room, s3, or any other) without any issue. edit: I just bought a bunch more of GLEDOPTO controllers because I'm sprinkling LEDs all around my house like fairy dust.

The Fatal Flaw: Unfortunately, the controller's lifespan was cut short due to a critical internal failure. The device began to malfunction and eventually shorted out, resulting in a burnt component on the microcontroller board. This was a significant disappointment, as it rendered the controller completely useless. Conclusion: While the LED Wi-Fi controller offered some benefits, the internal failure and limited feature set ultimately outweighed the positives. If you're seeking a reliable and feature-rich smart lighting solution, I would recommend exploring other options on the market.
