Great product when everything is working as intended.
This item is great when everything is working as intended. It would be great for a continuous shooting session or if have spare batteries for the gimbal and your camera hooked up to charge through the gimbal.Pros:1. Stability works great. Everything is buttery smooth and there are multiple tracking options that are sure to get the shot you want.2. Battery life is surprisingly great. It would outlast 2 GoPro batteries easily. (Without using it to charge the camera).3. Great ergo and controls. Once you get used to how it works, the controls and ergonomics are very good. The addition of the stand to the bottom with the legs folded in makes it quite long. You can utilize this to make it even longer stick for the camera (for selfies or to get a different shot angle).4. Great material. It is metal and some points are rubberized. Feels high quality and very durable.Cons:1. Camera positioning. You can put it right side up where the power on/off button is inaccessible or upside down where the charge input is inaccessible. After using it for a bit, I did find a suitable solution, put it right side up with about 1/2 to 3/4 inch gap from the edge. This allowed you to squeeze a finger in to turn it on and off and still access the charge input for the GoPro.2. Camera mounting. You have to loosen 2 screws by hand and tighten them whenever you need to take the camera off. There's not plate mounting with a quick lock/unlock system. This will put wear on the thread of the mount and also the screws will easily scratch the black paint just after a few uses. Why do you need to take your camera on and off all the time? Well if you need to change the battery or micro sd card and when you need to use the GoPro when the gimbal is too large for the environment.3. Unstable wireless connectivity. First thing is to make sure you set your wifi setting on your camera to 2.4 GHz as the gimbal does not support 5.0 GHz. For some reason, the gimbal does not always see the GoPro when pairing and sometimes it takes numerous tries to connect it. Second of all, you have to have your phone and use the app to pair the gimbal to the camera. Once connected, you no longer need your phone and it will most likely stay connected. About 5-10% of the time, the connection would just drop for no reason though. Then you have to pull our your phone and set up the connection again. Sometimes if you turn off the gimbal and then turn it back on later one (even an hour later, it sometimes can automatically connect to the camera). Also, sometimes the gimbal shows it is connected to the camera but the button does not trigger the camera to record. There were numerous instances that I had to push the button, look for the camera to start, and repeat 5 times before it actually starts. The same thing for trying to stop the footage sometimes. However, about 90% of the time, it works on the first push (but you always have to check so you don't end up missing your footage or end up with a 15 min video of the ground as you're walking).4. Battery drain on the camera. I think it is due to the continuous wifi connection, but I noticed my GoPro was always hot even in standby mode and the battery would just drain even when not filming. So your options are to turn both off and on and hope the wifi connects by itself or let your battery drain.5. Black paint seems to scratch easily. I was extremely careful but the paint seems to be PVD and comes off pretty easily. I rather they put a later of black plastic or rubber on it so it doesn't look old as quickly.6. Long turn on and off time. In order to save battery, I had to turn it on and off often. The off isn't so bad but the on seems to take an eternity as you stare at the tiny screen. I get it, you don't want to accidentally turn it on. However, I think holding 3 seconds is plenty, no need to make it 5 or however long it is.7. Controls can be difficult to remember. Most of the controls are done by 2 buttons, and how many times you consecutively push them. (i.e. twice on the front to reset position). You'll probably just end up remembering a few of the commands and won't fully utilizing all the gimbals features. This may be a given, but you cannot set this down while still on. It will spin the handle extremely fast and then trigger auto shut down.Ultimately, I returned it mainly due to mounting, wireless connection, and battery drain on the camera. The battery drain causes me to need to unmount the camera to change the battery and remount several times a day. The wireless connection not triggering or connecting is just aggravating (even if it is only 5-10% of the time). However, with the limited options out there, this still might be the best option.

Excellent Gimbal. Silky Smooth video.
This is an excellent gimbal. I have recently wanted to take my family and travel videos to the next level. So I did a lot of research and found that this gimbal would be a good fit for my Gopro Hero5 Black and an external microphone. The gopro audio is terrible from the camera. I'm very happy with my purchase. The G6 all but eliminates camera shake when moving or panning allowing you to get some awesome cinematic/professional looking video. I also really like the fact that you can mount various mounts etc. with the 1/4 screw holes in the handle (phone mount, cold shoe, mic, etc). Also battery life is great, it will way outlast your gopro batteries. Plenty of modes and features on the gimbal to boot, still learning them all. Overall I'm 100% satisfied with my purchase and would recommend it to anyone.

Great upgrade from the G5
I have been using the G5 for quite some time now and was extremely pleased with it. I recently upgraded to the Feiyutech G6 and I am super happy that I did. A lot of nice new features and upgrades but being able to start/stop recording and change modes via the new Wi-Fi features is really nice. Motor noise is quite acceptable, and raw audio is very usable when using a gopro Hero 6. They claim 12 hour battery life, now I can’t say for sure but I have used it quite a bit over the last week And I’m still on my first charge. Charging your GoPro via the pass-through cable works very well and a very welcome feature. The case is quite a bit larger than its predecessor but for those who would like the sleeve style, the G6 will fit into the sleeve That came with the G5. All in all I’m very pleased with the purchase and I recommend this gimbal to anyone who is looking for a nice smooth footage with their GoPro.

Gimbal for GoPro
This gimbal works with my Hero Black 5, 7 & Session 4. It will work in a little rain but I would not trust it under water. When mounted it does block the On/Off button on the Hero's but I have a wireless remote; the other option is to mount it such that you do not have access to the micro USB port. The functions of the gimbal work great & you can control the GoPro with the gimbal after pairing through Bluetooth. BE WARNED: DO NOT UPDATE THE FIRMWARE! There is a good chance your gimbal will freeze during the update attempt. If it does go to the Feiyutech forum for instructions how to fix the freeze, then do not update. The gimbal works fine without the update.

Great Price, Great Product!
I find the FY FEIYUTECH Feiyu G6 3-Axis Splash Proof Handheld Gimbal (upgraded From G5), a well built gimbal tool focused on interfacing with the (mainly) GoPro line of action cameras. The device is sturdy, has a good feel to the hand, (and it will Keel), and the controls by-and-large are well placed, responsive, and function with some level of intuitive-ness. I did not like the fact that the included adaptive cable was only available for micro-USB to USB-C as there are many other older GoPro Devices that could /can be used with this device (maybe) if only proper cable adaptors were provided! For the price, I think it cannot be beat, and as functionality goes, it meets my needs in all quarters! (features, motion dampening, directional controls, battery life, look and feel, and most included add-ons [tri-pod])!I use it with both, an older Hero Session 4, and a Hero 3, and find it 'Good Enuf'!
