OtterBox iPhone 3G/3GS Defender Case Belt Clip - Black

I paid $50 for what I had been told was the best case for my iPhone on the market. The case is very good. It needs to be, because the phone will fall to the ground MANY times due to the faulty clip. The case so poorly fits into the clip, that one can't really know whether it's secure without checking frequently. Over time, the clip wears from friction and gets even worse.And if that wasn't the problem, the "ears" on the clip that hold into the divots on the case have cracked and broken due to fatigue. I repaired mine once, then the other side broke. So what good is an excellent case if your phone gets destroyed due to a faulty clip? Frankly, I think Otter should design a better clip and provide one free to anyone who has invested in this poor (and expensive) product.I'll probably buy a few replacement clips to see how they fare. If I didn't have so much invested, I'd chunk it and try to find something else that works well. That's what I would recommend readers to do.

Dear Prospective Buyers:The Otterbox sleeve (for 3s/3g) is great for protection however plastic sleeve reduces visibility of phone face substantially due to air pockets between the glass and plastic shield. The belt clip holder is terrible to put it mildly. As others have complained it does not securely hold the phone. It is not an issue of whether it is facing in our or out. Facing in as prescribed does not securely hold the phone. Though the case for the phone is rugged, the belt clip holder is extremely fragile. I have purchaed three of them and all have been broken within a month. Since the price for the case for the 3s/3g belt clip holder has nearly doubled, it is time to get a new phone or find a new style of protective case. Supply and demand at its best. Time to go 4G.Good luck,

Let me start by saying that the oterbox case itself is great and has saved my phone on more than one occasion. That being said ONE of the reasons I'm sure this case is designed to be so great is because the clip its terrible. One day while it was raining and I was running to the house from my car, my phone came off the clip and laid on the side walk in the rain for two hours. After 2 hours in the rain phone is still fine to this day, but if the clip didn't suck I wouldn't have been in that situation. Also try not to sit down too much with the clip on your belt as it may just break. I've gone through two of these and unfortunately otterbox has done what many other companies are wise to do make one thing that will not work with anything else (printers and their cartridges, razor blades with their handles). So, i love the case and because I do, I am forced to buy the crappy belt clip.

I bought my original otter and the clip that came with it didn't hold the phone very securely. I had to use velcro to keep the phone from falling out. The clip on that case broke, so I bought two of these clips as replacements. The price is much better than buying another otter case. Both of these replacements actually hold the phone more securely than the original. I don't need the velcro. However, the clip still seems prone to breaking. The first one has already broken (which is why I bought 2) and who know how long the second will last. Still, with the price it was worth getting.

I have read some of the 3 star and below reviews and I wonder if this isn't operator error. This is by no means meant as derogatory towards those people who have rated this product poorly but was the front of the phone facing the inside of the belt clip? I got mine six months ago and the thing works like a charm, if it is facing inwards. My wife hated her's at first but that was because it was facing outwards and ANY movement would make it slip from or fall from the belt clip. This design offers extra protection because you have a hard platic back between the screen of your phone and any material or objects that could damage it. All in all great product and no complaints on my part.

Have used Otter Box products for some time now. Not sure what's going on but the quality (Otter Box Products) doesn't seem to be holding up like it did in it's infancy. Within 3 months of receiving this item, it started to show signs of material fatigue...one week later it was no longer useful for it's intended purpose. Now it is my experience that sometimes a product review Is not always on point (i.e..consumer did not assemble the product right or neglected to read all of the instructions in the proper use/care of the product), but I have recently purchased other Otter Box products and have already had to either return the item to the store or exhaust warranty rights. Althought, I will give them an A+ in the warranty customer service department. I don't want to give Otter Box a bad name because they have earned themselves a seat in the front-runners box of electronic device protection. However, if you (Otter Box Corporation) are reading this, please step up the Quality Control efforts and get back to the quality products that you are known to produce.Best Regards,Andra

Update!!! This thing is a piece of junk. Stay away. Yesterday the spring for the belt clip snapped into, so this case is now useless. I have had it for less than two weeks. Stay away from this one!!! Can I give it no stars????-------------------------------------------------I ordered this defender case replacement as I managed to break the clip on my original defender case. I went to otter's website to try and obtain a new one, but they were out of stock.I found this on amazon and ordered it as it appeared to be an original otterbox replacement. However, once I received it, (which took what seemed like forever per USPS) the only place that had otterbox printed on it was the clip, not the actual case as my original otter case did.Does my phone fit? Yes. Do I think it is secure? Absolutely not. It is a very loose fit. It works, but I will more than likely order and replacement from otter as if I don't, I'm going to loose my phone.Good price, but not worth the risk. Make sure you get an Otter replacement.
