A long road to this happy choice.
I hardly write reviews. The reason I'm doing this one is because of the extensive research I did to protect my insanely overpriced iphone 6, and to respond to some of the poorly supported opinions of other reviews I read.I originally carried one of the very first cell phones. Large, by today's standards, but amazing technology that kept me safe while traveling alone doing government contract work. To be able to call and check in with my wife from time to time instead of waiting to the end of the workday at the next hotel room, was delightful for us both. From there I graduated to a "flip" phone and had one un-cooly laced on the right side of my belt for years until a couple of months ago when we dropped our land line. With that savings, and while biting on a knotted rag, my wife paid for my new iphone 6; a slick piece of manufactured ... art. But being very thin and 'slick', I had the tendency to hold the thing with two hands, cradling it like I used to do when my daughters were newborns. So, I set out to purchase a cell phone case. As you know, there are literally 100's to choose from. So I first read dozens of articles and reviews. That research narrowed the field down to about 5 cases of a couple of different styles which included the 'folio' style that had great overall protection, but ultimately I did not want the extra cover flap (still like my phone laced on my belt, not dangling in my pocket - I'm over "cool"). With that and more research I narrowed the field down to two; the OtterBox, and the Silk "Armor".The OtterBox is popular for good reason; it is well made, protects, but seemed a bit expensive. The Silk rated very good in several reviews I read and about half the price of the OtterBox. Now I'm a firm believer that cheaper is not always better and I kept this in mind while looking for something to cradle my slippery little newborn. I also believe in getting the best product value you can, for as cheap as you can. That's why I ended up with the Silk. I've had it swaddling my precious phone for a couple of months now and would buy it all over again. I also like to start from the top rating score and work backwards deducting points off for what I don't like. So in all honesty and fairness; I have yet to come across anything to deduct. So I give it a 5.Now to deal with some of the other rating remarks.- "Fits too tight; hard to remove." Yes, it fits very tight. I want it to, thank you very much. Hold the cover against you skin for 10 minutes or so to warm it up before installing it. And IF you need to remove it (which I did a few of times) and are worried about "bending" your phone (which I didn't) work a small area at a corner of the phone. Work the corner only, don't grip the entire body. Keep working the corner until a small portion of the case slips off, then take a credit card (won't scratch the phone) and slip it in the opening and peel it easily away from the phone body, like silk. I can remove in about 30 seconds.- "The area around the headphone jack is thin and might break." Yes. It is thin in that area. But the material the case is made of is extremely tough, and installing and removing the case several times makes me feel this will not be a problem. Look how thin and tough those clear plastic six-pack bottle holders are (you know the one we tear apart so dolphins won't trap them on their nose), and the phone area is much thicker.- "Back cover did not fit on properly." The Silk comes with three choices of color for the hardback cover; I liked this. But oh no, after I installed it, the one corner of the hardcover did not fit flat on the rubberize case - just like I read! Well, looking more closely I could see that the tab on the hardcover was not all the way in the grove of the rubber case. So I removed the case from the phone again (piece of cake now), slipped the tab into the grove of the case, and it fit perfectly flat and snug.- Other RatingsI don't take very seriously most 1 and 2 star ratings. I usually read 3's and up as they seem honest, fair and creditable. Listen folks; don't blame a product for things out of their control like slow shipping, shipping damage or simply because you can't figure out how to use the thing properly. Not all 1's and 2's are off, some are legitimate. But more than not, seem off.The Silk comes with a nice scratch cover included in the kit. This also makes it a good deal as the OtterBox did not include one; an additional savings of $5 to $10. Trick: after you install a scratch shield, and you still have a piece of dust or two under it, take a piece of Scotch tape, place it on the scratch cover corner nearest the dust particle, and lift up. The scratch cover will separate from the phone. Now take some more tape and make a small tight roll, about the size diameter of a round plastic coffee stirrer. With the end of tape roll, touch the dust particle stuck on the back of the scratch cover. The dust particle will stick to it. Don't try to use your finger! You will permanently mark the back sticky surface with your skin oil. Then with the little squeegee included, slowly lay the scratch cover back in place working out any air bubbles (note: if you moisten the scratch cover with a few drops of water, it will help lubricate it and make this part more workable). Now remove the piece of tape at the corner. I did this process several times until I removed all particles.Lastly, never lay your phone down anywhere. It's in your hand, your case (or pocket if your cool) or your night stand at home while being charged - you'll never loose it or forget it.- Enjoy your phone, I'm enjoying mine! God Bless!

Great Case. Easy to use buttons and perfect cut outs!
Amazing case. Great protection without the extra bulk. Buttons are easy to press and cut outs are just right.I had been looking for a decent case for well over a month and really wanted this case when I saw it. Unfortunately every time I looked, it was out of stock (or probably "not in stock" yet). Finally the other night it was in stock so I ordered this and the ClearView style as well because I couldn't decide which one I liked more (Clearview: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00NIBR78Q). I did end up choosing this one though because it was a bit thicker and its the one I initially wanted.Pros:-Has the lip around the front to protect the screen-Back of case is raised to protect camera lens-Padded corners for drop protection-Perfectly sized cut outs-Easy to use buttons-Feels solid-Minimal branding-3 different back plate options-Comes with screen protectorCons:-Case provides almost no additional grip (though this is a "Pro" for me because it feels nice in the hand)-Slight burr around power button (could be intentional, read more below)-Screen protector cut out for light sensor is missing.-Does not cook dinner. In the box you will get the 3 different color back plates and a screen protector. The Gunmetal plate is already installed. I just briefly tested how to remove the cover and I personally couldn't figure it out, which is fine with me because I only wanted the Gunmetal anyway. The benefit of me not being able to remove it is that I know it will stay on and not fall off randomly. The black trim around the case does bend a little, so I'd assume you just push the edges in to release the clips, leading me to believe you cannot remove the back plate while the case is on the phone, which again will attest to increased durability.I did not use the screen protector and opted for the TechArmor Ballistic Glass screen protector instead (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00NGMVD8W/) which is compatible with the case. The cut outs on the screen protector line up perfectly except it does partially cover the light sensor. With the case being the way it is, I find it hard to believe the screen protector would be bad if I used it. I don't think anyone in their right mind would package a great case with a bad screen protector, but again, I did not use it so I cannot comment on how good it actually is.Regarding the burr: Its soft enough that it doesn't hurt when I press it, but if I run my finger along the side I can feel the difference. Maybe it's intentional because it seems to go around the entire button (perhaps to help find the lock button easier?). The volume buttons do not have this.
