Westland Giftware 26-Ounce Ceramic Teapot, 7.25-Inch, Disney Nightmare Before Christmas Zero

I love this teapot so much!! It looks like on the picture. and it is SO big, I didn't expect that.Only used it once cause I'm too afraid to put it in the dishwasher or accidentally drop it.It's nice as a decorative item as well.Really, really adorable. It was very well wrapped.

First, it's cute. Really cute. I don't normally make impulse buys, but when I do, it's for Nightmare Before Christmas merchandise. And this is really a better decoration than a teapot. I mean, it holds hot water and you can pour this hot water into cups, so I guess technically it's a working teapot. But it would be awfuly nice if the following things weren't issues:1. It says "not microwave or dishwasher safe." Well, I don't really need to put it in either of those, but I really wonder if it's stovetop safe. It is thin ceramic and looks like if dry heat and open flame wouldn't crack it,nthat it would at least discolor significantly. So far I have not been brave enough to test this theory. If anyone else puts theirs on the stovetop, let me know how it goes. I have been heating water in another pot and pouring it into Zero with the tea, and then into cups. Efficient, I know.2. Zero's face is on one side, essentially making this a left handed tea pot. This would be a delight for my left handed mother. For me, not so much as I have to look at the back of Zero's head most of the time.3. No whistle. Since I'm too chicken to put it on the stovetop anyway no biggie, but if one were to put it on the stovetop, a whistle would be nice.4. As someone else mentioned, the cap does not in any way lock on, and doesn't really even close the opening completely when it is on - so between this and the lack of whistle, it would be entirely possible to boil it dry.So if you serve tea to left handed guests who love the Nightmare Before Christmas frequently, I'd say go for it. Otherwise there is better movie paraphernalia out there.
