Perfect Brass Hammer
This is a great mid-size brass hammer. The hammer is made of brass, which is significantly softer than steel. You can strike a piece of metal without leaving of the marks a steel hammer would. This means the brass will deform instead of the steel. Don't expect the brass hammer to stay in pristine condition; the brass is meant to acquire scratches and deformities. This brass hammer is great for hitting pieces of metal that you want to protect, like metal stamps or the inserts for cutting dies. It's a must for a jeweler or anyone who dabbles with metalwork.

Good Brass hammer.
Nice hammer for striking steel punches and stamps. Heavy enough to drive a tool through a thick piece of leather with fewer hits than lighter weight nylon and rubber mauls and hammers.

Very good brass hammer
One of the best brass hammers I have tried. The shape and size of the head is good for a wide variety of uses and the wood handle is well attached and holding up nicely to plenty of beating. I often put the hammer on the work and hit the other side of the brass hammer with a 4 pound sledge and that tends to move things very well. Yes, the brass will deform, but that is what it is made for. Brass tools are sacrificial tools. The brass absorbs the abuse so the parts can be moved without damaging the parts.

Good hammer but too much varnish
Hammer itself is good. I had to spend a good deal of time scrapping the varnish off the hammer faces before it was really usable. The handl also had a very thick coat of varnish, that I sanded off so I comfortable. a boiled linseed finish on it which is alot more comfortable.

Good brass head with a tough, long handle
Brass hammers are supposed to deform after use. They're a softer metal than steel and so you can use this to smack things that you don't want to damage. The brass deforms instead of mushrooming the steel shaft you're smacking. I'm an industrial mechanic and I use this hammer for rebuilding pumps, installing and removing bearings, and whatever else I need to move without marring the surface. I've had this for almost a year now and I use it daily. I've used a grinder a couple of times to remove the mushroom that forms around the head after heavy use and I'd say this hammer has 3 or 4 more years of hevay daily use left in it. This is normal as brass tools are meant to wear out over time. In about 15 years of this work I've had 3 brass hammers and many more punches. This hammer has a longer handle than other brass hammers I've used which is nice to get a little heavier swing when needed.

High total quality
This hammer feels great and the balance is perfect. The metal part has a transparant coating on it for protection against the elements. The handle is thicker then normal so it feels perfect in my normal size hands, and thus the good balance. Good and nice quality hickory handle. Would buy again product ! Bronce metal part is good and not to soft, feels it will last a good time.

Decent
It's decent for the price. Has good weight and balance. The head chipped immediately on use, which was for getting an S clip inside a differential. Also used with a steel punch but that is on me. I would not use this for serious hammering as the handle feels soft and not dense enough.

I make handstamped metal items & this brass hammer has made a HUGE difference. The weight and quality are amazing! It allows me to get great clear, crisp & even impressions on the first hit!

While there are other good hammers out there you will not go too wrong with buying this one. It is a solidly built hammer and should be good for life, for the intended use of brass hammers. Start smashing steel products and you are going to dent the brass. I gave it only 4 stars over 5, not because it did not deliver as shown but because I think it would be nicer if the two heads were different sized. make one a full sized head as is and make the second head half or two thirds the size for when jobs need a smaller impact size to get into tighter areas. Not a fault on what I received.
