My Labrador Bella is 21" tall at the shoulder and weighs 60 lbs, I just recently bought a whelping box that was 20" tall, I thought it was tall enough but when I bought it it turned into a hurdle toy for Bella, she jumps out of it very easily and that whelping box was so light that Bella could move it easily. This one is just right for Bella, the height is 27" and it almost blocks her view, she is much more peaceful and calm in it. At 81" in length, it's also very roomy and Bella doesn't feel cramped in there. And this whelping box is very heavy and seems to be made of solid wood, very stable. what's very interesting is that this brooder has two separate spaces, a living room and a play area, with two small dividers as doors in several directions, very interesting design. When Bella gives birth, she can take up one partition and her baby will only be able to move around in a limited area without any impact on Bella.So far, this is a good product.
