Nice solid ladder

I have been using ladders all my life as I am a painter/decorator. I have a triple extension but it is only 11 rungs per section, and just too short for some gable ends. This one is 6 rungs longer overall , so nearly 2 metres which makes a huge difference. This ladder is somewhat heavier than the current one , but that is down to the quality and solid build. That's not to say the one I have is rubbish , I have been using it for 28 years. It is certainly not too heavy , it's not a two man lift as has been suggested, even by TB Davies!! No , if you're experienced with ladders it's certainly manageable. Having said that , I wouldn't try moving it extended.I read a lot of reviews here before buying and noticed some folk saying it cannot be taken apart. Well no, that is correct. The first thing I did was grind off the washers that stop it being taken apart , job done. The next thing was to discard the silly stabiliser bar. Whoever came up with that stupid idea?!Someone here said they bought new feet from the supplier after discarding the bar. No need. Just take the yellow stoppers from the very top of the third section of ladder and put some tape over to prevent water ingress. Put the yellow stoppers in the feet of the section that the stabiliser bar should be fitted to. Use the screws taken from the ones you have removed , and also there are two self tappers provided to use with the bar.Solid bit of kit , delivered to Jersey on the ferry in 3 days , excellent service.Very happy , these will see me into retirement .

Safe

I needed to sort out some gutter problems. I had a 4 piece folding ladder which was nothing but pain every since I got it, as it was just too tall, and even with one of the parts folded, the ladder stay couldn't get it clear of the gutters, so to get the top under the gutters I had to pull it out too far at the bottom, resulting in the ladder being at the wrong angle. Used it a couple of times, had to move it in 2 people, folding/unfolding was super difficult and took ages, and overall I never felt safe on it.Finally decided to get that gutter issue sorted, and decided I needed a new ladder. So I opted for this one, and I'm pleased to say, it's perfect. Yes it can't get clear of the gutter (not the ladder's fault of course) but I can extend right to the gutter - no more no less, unlike the folding one which would only extend in multiples of 1.7 metres. When I want to move it to another wall, I just bring it back down, move, and extend it again - can do it all myself, and easily enough. Then the safety aspect. I felt perfectly safe the entire time I was on this ladder. I don't know why I didn't on the other ladder, maybe it felt more slippery, maybe the angle, I don't know, but on this one I immediately noticed I wasn't feeling fearful of being up high, and felt sufficiently stable that I could focus on my work.

A brute of a ladder

Don't get me wrong this is a very good ladder, but man is it a brute. There is no way while pussy is a cat that one person could extend this ladder to it's full (or even close to) its full extent. I need help to extend the ladder close to the apex of my chalet bungalow. It was delivered quickly. There is movement when you are climbing the ladder but that is normal (in my opinion). I felt perfectly safe (well, as safe as I normally do working at height) and will keep using this ladder. As another reviewer stated, I will only need to use it normally with two sections; the third only adds extra weight and there's no need to keep it attached if not needed. All in all a good ladder, but it is heavy.UPDATE: the ladder photographed is not the one you get. The newer model has "safety" features, namely two "nipples" rivetted to the top of two of the section to prevent you removing one section. I had planned to use this as a two section ladder once I had painted the barge boards of the house (high apex which necessitated three sections. Would be pleased if someone knows how to remove the two "nipples".

Good solid ladder

I run a small gardening business and usually use a tripod ladder for the majority of medium height work but just sometimes things are out of reach. I needed an extendable ladder ,8ft long retracted, to fit in the work van and this seemed to fit the bill. Apart from the specification the main thing that swing the sale was the item being british made.It arrived in good condition and just needed the stabiliser bar at the bottom bolting on (took me 5 mins).Used it for the first time the other week, weight is fine, fairly easy to manoeuvre in and out of van, extends easily and the rung hooks feel like things are locked in place.Rungs feel substantial enough, finish is nice, no sharp edges, doesn't look cheaply made.Happy with it so far.Would buy again if needed.

Great product, exactly as described.

I bought the 3m triple extension ladder. It's really well made, solid and strong. Far, far better than "DIY" ladders that I've used in the past.Arrived quickly (the next day) via DX Delivery and was in perfect condition.Yes it's a little heavy as you would expect but I can move it around and extend it on my own with a little care and thought, eg don't try to carry it upright while extended !I was a little apprehensive about ordering this unseen via Amazon but I have no regrets at all - great product and great service.

Great Ladders but ...

I love these ladders. They are very light for their size and can be easily carried around by one person. I have left them in the rain for a couple of weeks and they are still shiny new. They also stay firm when carrying heavy stuff the ladder, e.g. a few tiles or bags of sand, etc. The one issue which I really hate and loses two stars for is the stability bar at the bottom of the ladder. Yes, it does help keep the ladder upright if working alone, but it is a very real tripping hazard if you arent expecting it to be there, which is a greater danger. The bar is quite big and sticks out a lot too, so if space is tight you may not be able to get your ladders in the right place. It should be optional but there is no option not to have it. This may be the law, so the manufacturer has no choice, i dont know, but it is really annoying and dangerous, if you are carrying bricks, tiles etc. and fall over. It also makes it harder to hang the ladders on a wall when you are finished with them.
