Separate parts for the Tortoise Switch Machine are generally not available through retail means and would have to be obtained directly from the manufacturer, Circuitron. Additional metal wire may be available from various retailers.

Can this be applied to O gauge?

Yes it can be applied to O-Gauge. You just need to change the wire gauge to a bigger, stronger one.

Do they work with dcc systems

Short answer is yes. You need a separate power supply for them 12-18 volts. You can run them with a simple DPDT switch or you can get very sophisticated and have your DCC system control them. I opted for the simpler route.

Easier than I thought

I've been improving my model railroad skills since starting my third layout. I didn't want the Atlas switches next to the track so was using the ground throws. I finally gave in and bought my first Tortoise and was nervous about hooking it up, especially the wiring. Turns out when using the DPDTs with screw on terminals, these are a breeze to install and work very well. My only question is, why can't they include the screws? I mean come on, its four screws and would save me a trip to the hardware store when I find I run out.

They have been installed for a year with no malfunctions

I have ten of them on my layout and they function great. I have them wired with LEDs to show switch direction and they function perfectly
