I have brown hair, and I was skeptical after having a mediocre experience with another brand of dark blue dye. But this one certainly lived up to my expectations. The dye itself smells pleasant, the activator you mix it with on the other hand is very strong smelling but that's to be expected. The color turned out exactly as it was pictured. It did not immediately wash out, and still looks the same a week later. If you have long hair you may need to order 2. I have shoulder length thick hair and I used almost the entire tube. I will be purchasing this brand again! Edit: it's been a little over a month now and the color has noticeably faded and needs to be redone (this is with washing 2x/week). Not "permanent", but as expected. Given the price and quality I do think this is worth the purchase.

This is the 3rd or 4th brand I'm trying to achieve a cool black. It definitely got rid of the reddish brown tones near my regrowth, unlike the last 2 brands, which is all I was wanting to achieve, although a tint of blue would have been cool, too. I don't see the blue much if at all however, but that's very typical for my hair historically, regardless of brand. With this color, the water got much closer to clear when rinsing than other brands, which is promising for longevity. It doesn't have a super strong ammonia smell, as in once I washed it out, my hair smelled like my conditioner. Usually it smells like it's been dyed for at least a couple of days. Lastly, my hair was very soft when through, and it covered the grays really well. I'm very happy with this purchase.

For me it’s a red flag. The front of the tube reads Caution Attention but the explanation it’s in another language not English; and the back of the tube the font it’s so small and the style used that makes it impossible to read. For me it’s a red flag.

My hair is just growing back after chemotherapy. Even before chemo, I started using a super-gentle temporary product that tinted my grays. I played with some purplish rinses recently, but they stained my bathroom surfaces like crazy while not doing much in my hair. I decided to try this dye in 'darkest blue,' partly because it is meant to help aging hair and partly based on reviews that it fades quickly. In my experience, it does what it says -- the color is deep and rich, my hair is shiny and looks healthier than before, and it was easy to use. However, it does NOT fade. In fact, I would like it to fade. I might have left it on too long, having become accustomed to 'semi-permanent' products that require far more time than directions advise. I think I know the problem: developer. Many of us are used to boxed products that include everything we need. If there weren't a "kit" associated with this that included developer, I wouldn't have known it was needed. I've never purchased it separately before. So it's possible that people who tried it and said it faded fast didn't buy the developer -- an easy mistake to make. My mistake was thinking, "Oh, this is going to fade anyway." I haven't had good luck reaching the company's help line via text for advice about fading or removing the color, and their email help form requires an awful lot of personal information. I've seen a lot of aspirin, baking soda, detergent, vinegar and other ingredients touted online as color removers, but I'm not sure what those -- or the company's color removers -- would do to delicate hair.
