Real D'lite - improved construction
These are legitimate D'Lites shipped in the actual box (some on here selling knockoffs, or ones they made themselves). Having sold them myself at my own magic store years ago they've made a few changes. I'm not sure when, but they are different from the ones of old.For those of you who are not familiar with exactly what this is, it is a pair of thumb tips with lights in the tips. I figure if you've ended up here you're looking to buy magic tricks, so I'm thinking it's ok to reference what they are. Especially because fitting can be important. I purchased the regular sized pair. My thumbs at the first joint are 6.5 centimeters in diameter (2.6 inches). They fit all right, a bit loose compared to my original pair. This new pair I have to wedge my thumbs in fairly tight, but due to the new apparatus this works fine. The new ones have a white plastic disc installed that looks like two discs sitting on each other. This new disc insert looks like it will last longer than the original silicone with a thin wire resting above a battery. Overall I feel like this is an improvement, but it does need a firmer pressure to avoid flashing off/on (not a huge impact to the effect).Overall I'd say I'm happy with the glowing thumb tips. They only minor negative is that the opening to the tip is a bit larger than the rest of the thumb, so it can slip off if you don't wedge in. Wedging your thumb in isn't a huge issue, but it does make it a bit tougher to ditch when you need to. There is only one skin color, so it may or may not match all that well. However, if you follow the tips below it really doesn't matter. I had a customer argue this with me once, so I grabbed one of my African American tips and did a silk vanish in front of him, and new customers. He couldn't pick up on it even though he knew what he was looking for.For those who are looking for a very cool effect without needing a ton of skill this is a good one. The instructions only reference an idea of what you could do. Here's a couple tips for your tips :) If your hand is to be stationary, tuck your thumb into the middle of your palm, then make sure the back of your hand is facing the spectator(s). If you are not in this position, or another hidden position your hand should never stop moving. It doesn't need to be fast, but moving nonetheless. If the tip isn't lit, you want the tip of your thumb pointing directly at the spectators, otherwise try and tuck it to mask it. This applies to normal tips as well for vanishing silks or money...A couple fun ideas... I use this to lead into my red sponge ball routine... cool effect to have the lights bouncing then have it turn into a sponge ball. For older audiences I love to pop the floating red light into my mouth, put my hand to my chest and make it looks like my stomach hurts, then with the opposite hand I pull the light out of my rear end. Always draws a laugh...Definitely a good purchase, I'll be picking up a few spare sets now that I know it's the real deal. Good luck!
