Not as good as they should be for the price
Stated out really well, took a while to break in, however 18 months in they let water in and take two days to dry out. Husband had always wanted a pair of Danners as he believed they were one of the best. Danner are not interested as they are only a mid-range boot so no repair. I would hope for the price of them they would have lasted longer. Will most def not buy another pair !

Perfect boot.
I found my winter boots! I wanted a serious winter hiker without having to resort to pacboots. I wanted something very sturdy because I tend to rip apart footwear within 7-15 months of wearing and I'm tired of constantly buying new stuff. And its not like I don't clean and condition my leather products. Everything gets a round of cleaning and dressing straight out of the box and once a season at minimum. To start with I have strange feet. I have a normal-width heel but I have EE toes with all my toes about the same length making a very "long trapezoid" shaped food. I can't begin to tolerate anything that has tapered toes. Needless to say most footwear doesn't fit properly. In short I have a "keen foot" well suited to that brand's boots. But Keen stubbornly only makes low-quality ankle high hiking "booties." Tired of mud/show packed in around my ankles I wanted something taller and more substantial. So imagine my surprise when they felt 95% perfect the second I put them on! They fit firm in the heel, and have room for my strange toes. First of all they fit exactly to size. Danner doesn't play games with foot sizing charts, if you an 11, then 11's in these will fit. These particular Danner's are made in the USA with a full welt construction and made of firm, high quality leather. The came cannot be said for some of their less expensive boots. They do not bind or pinch at the top of the boot around my calves, they flex and bend nicely as I walk. They have a solid shank that makes covering irregular ground easy. They are firm enough to provide some solid ankle support without being so stiff they resist ankle flexing. My heel does not slide or rub in heel cup and is held nice and firm in place as it should. As a bonus the slightly gel-like insole has a heel cup and arch support so I don't need to bother dropping my super-feet into these. Lastly the tread pattern provides great grip and doesn't pick up or track mud or snow. The tread is a little shallow but these can be re-soled unlike less expensive boots.AT 400 grams I'm not sure I would go mountaineering with these but so far I've had nothing but warm, comfortable feet even stomping through ankle high snow. I can even pair these with a thick sock and they fit well if i bit more snug. I can't imagine how great they will be once they fully break in.About the only way they could possibly be better is if they had a tactical style side zip for easy on/off. I really, really wanted to like a pair of 400g tactical Bates because of the side zips, but they went back because they simply wouldn't work with my special toes. The only real downer on these is the sole is rather heavy and substantial. It requires a slight modification to your walk to not waste energy. These wear and walk like a classic boot, not at all like athletic shoes. However that is either a pro or a con depending on what you like. One think to be aware of, Danner's own boot dressing (and I imagine most dressings) will take these down from a nice rich medium brown leather color to something like a near-black burnt umber. I personally didn't care as I bought these 100% for utility but if you are trying to compliment camo or something its good to keep that in mind. IMO these are worth the premium, because I expect they will last as long as 2-3 pairs of the cheaper stuff.

Comfortable and Quality Boots!
My husband absolutely loves these boots. He is on his feet all day so it's very important that he is comfortable. He has never really had a pair of boots that met all his comfort criteria....until now! I'ts only been two days but he is sooooo happy! We've tried the cheaper $80 to $100 brands and he is always complaining about some irritation the first day of wear. He also wears orthodics and they fit inside perfectly. We are so happy we finally tried the Danner brand. It's well worth the extra expense because of the high quality. And they look awesome!

Had them for a while they leak like crazy.
Very wet boots if you like being in the woods all day and coming home to wet pruney feet these are for you, after a few months the sole stared separating from the arch. I was dumb to buy boots with canvas sides and expect them to stay dry. But the weirdest thing is they're loud, yes loud, A creaking noise which i guess must be the "waterproof" liner rubbing against the leather inside? So you wont be sneaking up on anyone or anything if youre a hunter. Also had to replace the laces as they rubbed themselves frayed. I'm in the middle of nowhere so i'm not going to send them back, bought a different pair of danners (this way i have at least one dry pair, but the other pair leaks as well but is not as noisy. I liked the little American flag on these boots and the color of the leather. so one star per like. Avoid if you live in your boots.
