after a bit of fiddling about setting it up it works i had the Mclear ring which i loved but they stopped it and i purchased this one not as easy to set up as Mclear and i liked that you topped up as and when you wanted, but this one comes straight out of your bank via the curve app and also the ring is not as nice as the Mclear ring its thinner and matt but it does work well once set up

Didn’t intend to post a review but answered a question so: Check your size, and go for it: there’s nothing else in the way of payment rings (the much better Mclear will be withdrawn at end of this month). The size 9 I got is as big as the 9.5 Mclear it’s replacing but bear in mind that the “free” return they listed (now withdrawn) was actually a printed self-pay label to Netherlands address (£10 postage), and although sent nearly a month ago am still waiting for refund. Set up also a pain. Astari, if you read reviews please process my refund and get another star.

Used to have a Mclear payment ring which was perfect until the firm went under and the ring ceased working after just one year. To their credit I received a partial refund for the inconvenience.The Mclear ring simply needed topping up via their App before using.Have been wary of other companies since then but finally pulled the trigger on this black Astari ring.This Astari was an absolute pain to set up because it is not compatible with any of the UK banks at the time of this review and is unlikely to be anytime soon.So the only way is to open a Curve Account I was sceptical because I’ve never heard of them.Then link my bank account to the Curve Account.Finally (the hardest part) link the ring to the Curve App. Many many times the linking process reached 48% done then failed.Over several days repeatedly failed.I was just about to return the ring when it worked.Fantastic product. Much more responsive than the Mclear and debits my bank account directly so no need to top up.Recommended.

I hate using my phone to pay so have used a ring for a few years now. This gets 4 stars purely for the process of setting up. You have to have the Curve app and you have to have Manage mii app before you open the box so get those first.My existing supermarket credit card wouldn't work. I ordered a Barclaycard. Didn't work.A flash of inspiration led me to add my PayPal account tothe Curve app and use those credentials and it finally accepted the ring!Ring now works fine and deducts directly from PayPal which in turn deducts from my original credit card.Smooth, stylish, quite sturdy. I love it but it needs to be much simpler.

I have had pay rings in the past, this is by far the best, easy to set up and a great price

This technology needs to be improved, it has only worked on one payment device, rather embarrassing holding your hand to pay , then doesn’t work, especially if there’s a queue behind you , I was going to return it , but I have no access to a printer, so returns is not easy, the post office where I live, don’t have the facility, so I’m stuck with it , I would avoid buying this item, until the technology has been improved

Like many others I have been happy with my McLear for several years and would not have changed if their closure hadn't forced me to.However, I much prefer that this ring uses a curve wallet rather than a prepayment process. Being able to swap between cards at the tap of an app, not having an expiry date which will make you buy a new ring - definitely better functionality.The set up needs 2 apps - one I think is a one off just to activate the ring, the second is your free curve wallet. It's not rocket science, just takes a few mins.Once set up it seems to work as seamlessly as you would expect.

Received the ring way before the actual delivery date literally took me under 5min set up need to have curve account works fast when making payment compared to my previous ringOnly one issue with this is that every time I touch the back of my phone it keeps connecting to set up page on the we browser which is getting quite annoying I have contacted the seller about this issue will see what they say if they can help to fix the problem if not will return the ring back only because of this issue
