ABIG Lino Cutting Set - Wooden, QAQLCS (Packaging may vary)

Sold as Abig, looked like Abig, but did not arrive with the little storage box or any branding to indicate that it was Abig. Upon using, it was clear that it was not of the quality of an Abig tool, but was still useable. Given the low price point, it is value for money but I am not sure how long the cutting edges will remain sharp.

Well made, comfy to hold, strong blades.

I bought this tool to make my own lino stamps. Having never tried this technique before, I wasn't sure what to expect. I've just created my first simple design of concentric circles and I'm very pleased with the results. Don't expect your stamp to have the same fine detail as shop bought rubber stamps, though. Stamps cut from lino have a more grungy, rustic look, which is exactly what I was after. This tool is very easy to use and produces great results. The blades glide easily - in fact, I was surprised how easy it was to cut grooves into the lino. Make sure you ALWAYS cut away from your fingers! That way there will not be any nasty accidents. On that note, I'm surprised to see that this tool is listed under "Toys and Games" on Amazon. Isn't it time they introduced a "Crafts" category?I first looked at the cheaper tools with the red plastic handle. Those are made in China - these are made in Germany! Need I say more? It's always worth getting the quality stuff for a few extra quid. I'm very happy with this purchase. The fact that replacement blades are available separately is an added bonus!

I teach printmaking and needed an extra set for students. I often use the Abig sets which is why I bought this one. It said packaging may vary, and as I have some of the boxes the Abig ones come with, I didn't mind that. When it came however it was obviously a different brand 'Tools'. This is really unfair as it is totally misrepresented. The 5 tools it came with were badly made and didn't fit neatly in the handle at all. They were so wobbly that it was absolutely impossible to keep it still which when using sharp tools is a really dangerous problem! I would honestly pay the extra £1 and get a proper Abig,

I'm very pleased with this product! Having used cheap plastic versions when I was at college, I can say with certainty that the quality and feel of this strong wooden handle and its sturdy blades are miles better. The handle is comfortable to use for long periods and the blades fit securely into their socket (easily removed afterwards with the cleverly designed interior prodder!). Although there are fewer blades than with some other sets, I can't see myself needing any besides these five. I'm even pleased with the storage case, which keeps everything together in a truly satisfyingly neat use of space.If you're wondering whether to get this set or a cheaper plastic one, I'd say 100% definitely go for this - you won't regret it for a second.

This set is amazing and renewed my confidence in trying lino printing since school. I had previously recieved the red handled set for my birthday, which were impossible to use. I exerted so much pressure for a disappointed outcome of the most basic practise cuts.The abig cutting set is German by name and quality. Glides like a dream and a breeze to use.

I was very disappointed with this product. I previously had a cheap cutting set with red plastic handle, but my favourite blades had become blunt from so much use, so I was looking for a better quality tool. I chose this after reading the reviews on Amazon. I was excited when my new cutting set arrived... but it turned out not to cut well at all. I have had to go back to my old red set - despite all the lino I have cut with it, it is sharper and more accurate than this new Abig Set! So I will have to stick with my old red set until I can afford to buy a good quality cutting tool. Don't waste your money on this! The wooden handle is nice but the blades don't cut clean.

The product is described as an ABIG set (although it may come in different packaging). This is not the case, we were delivered a generic unbranded set, which could be obtained for less than half the price.
