Gwi agreed to help this person become King and over time his descendants to stay in power. In exchange for his help he would have the loyalty of the Kings and be the unofficial King that will rule the people. The real power is held by the vampire Gwi and the Kings were more of a puppet monarchy.Approximately 100 years ago there was a man who was deeply in love named Orabeani. The woman's name was Myung Hee. Orabeani ( now known as Kim Sung Yeol.....aka ...the scholar who walks at night) was bitten by a vampire and given a black cloak to wear that would protect him from the sunlight during the day. The vampire who bit him was hopeful that he could transfer his powers over to him with the goal of killing Gwi. He was successful but when the Scholar confronts Gwi he is weak because he hasn't consumed human blood. His girlfriend sacrifices herself and has him drink her blood. It unfortunately causes her death and he will not be able to forgive himself. His attempt to kill Gwi fails.Time has now moved forward and the King is being bossed around by Gwi. Refusal of honoring the promise will result in certain death by him. The new Crown Prince doesn't want to be ruled by vampires. He writes books under the pen name The Lustful Student. This results in booksellers and followers to be captured and killed to stop the public to know about Gwi and his life in the palace.One day the Scholar hires a bookseller to find the Crown Prince Junghyun Memorandum. Little does he know that the bookseller Jo Yang Sun is actually a woman trying to support her family as the sole provider to her parents and sister who needs surgery. This is a fateful day for these two to meet. This special book holds the key to kill Gwi. This drama has so much going on, far more than I can tell you about. I was happy that a good quality set was available. I watched this show years ago for Lee Jun-ki, and it's an absolute gem. I really can't recommend watching this one highly enough, and the physical DVD's for this set are gorgeous, as is the packaging they came in. The video quality is wonderful, which I really was hoping for with this show because it's so visually rich. Seriously, it's expensive because it's worth it. The acting is great and extremely compelling, and I really enjoyed the story-line; I re-watch it all the time. Highly recommend!

I normally don't watch vampire movies, but this one was good. The actors are great and added depth to what otherwise would have been a spoof. The hero and heroine are wonderful actors. Plus, the English sub-titles were fantastic.

Just finished this movie. Love the whole story and the actors. Movie in black and white, don't know how to make it in color. Package was neat and all cd's were excellent. Will buy more movies of this genre.

I was surprised at the ending.The actors held my attention throughout the drama.Good sword fighting if you like that sort of thing.

Good series set in the Joseon period that involves vampires. This boxset have excellent English subtitles… when they appear on screen. For the most part, the subtitles do appear, but a few lines don’t appear each episode. Because of it, it can be difficult to follow the story. Luckily, I watched this series on the Internet first, so I somewhat remembered what happened in those scenes, but it can be a bit disappointing for someone who didn’t previously watch it. Still, a series worth to discover.

This is a classic! Love this kdrama! The dvds came in excellent condition! I am very pleased with this purchase! Two thumbs up!

I love Lee Joong Gi and the historic shows he performed in. This was , in my opinion, one of the best .
