HABA Logic! Games: Milo's Waterpark - Splash Labyrinth - Dexterity Maze Game - Ages 6+

My 5 year old loves this and will stay engaged for hours at a time! He loves the different challenges and plays this almost every day

This is the first solo game from HABA my daughter has tried, and she has really been enjoying it.As a precocious almost-5-year-old, she needs a little help sometimes for the harder puzzles, but was able to do the first 10 or so pretty much all by herself.As usual for HABA, the pieces are very high quality. The cardboard tiles are even chunkier than usual for them (which is saying something), since they're used for the slider puzzle that represents the core of the game.The marble inside the ring allows for the tilt phase (getting Milo the marble from start to finish, along the slide you've build in the slider puzzle phase) to be executed with reasonable precision, even for my small daughter (though it's sometimes tricky/frustrating for her to get around holes, which require you to start over if you fall in them).The art is colorful, and the filler rings (representing unused/non-slide spaces basically) are color-coded to make it easy to know which color slide piece is on the other side, so it's easy for a kid to set up a puzzle using the large clear images in the spiral-bound puzzle book.The only aspect that I can criticize at all is that there can often be a little gaps between a sliding piece and the starting spot for the marble. which makes it require a more extreme tilt to get it going, at which point it's going way too fast for control. The rulebook does say you can help the marble out of the starting position with your finger, which pretty much solves the problem, but it's hard for my daughter to do that on her own while holding the box to tilt it (hopefully she'll eventually get the hang of moving the marble just barely out of the starting spot and then shifting to a tilting grip without disturbing it).The gap does have its reasons for existing, since there needs to be room to smoothly slide the tiles around. So I don't entirely know how to fix the issue. Fortunately overall it's a pretty small thing.I really like it when my daughter plays these kinds of games, because it's so clearly developing her ability to solve logic puzzles. (and it's also nice when she's able to do an activity like this on her own, of course -- though like I said, this game does get at least a bit tricky as you move deeper into the puzzle book, so most kids who aren't extremely patient and particularly good at this sort of thing may need some guidance and hints, at the least).This game sets itself apart from other games for little kids, by the nature of the puzzles, which implement sliding logic via a good tactile sliding experience. It's an especially great overall package with how this dovetails into making the marble travel along the 3d slide path created in the puzzle step.It is definitely in the upper echelon of games/activities for somewhat logically-minded kids, in my opinion.

My son and I enjoyed playing this game. The instructions were easy to understand and the game itself is easy to put together. The easy cards are pretty easy, so we moved on to the medium and then hard cards. Medium gave us more of a challenge, and hard definately was hard. I'm not sure we've been able to solve any hard cards yet. If I had to change one thing, I'd make the tiles fit a little more snug into the game board. There were a couple of times it was hard to move the marble to the next tile because the gap between would catch the marble. If the tiles were more streamlined, I think this would be avoided. I would recommend this game, especially for those who like a thinking challenge.

I love logic games and got this for my grandchild, age 5. He is just starting to like these types of games and I thought I would try it out before the next time he is at our house. The game board and pieces are VERY thick cardboard. Once you set up the game board you dont have to disassemble it and everything can be stored in the box.There is a spiral bound booklet that gives 60 different logic puzzles. It tells you how to set up the game board for each one and on the back of the page it shows the correct placement and the moves to get there. Great if you get stuck!. Each square game piece is double sided and color coded. One side has a picture of an inner tube and the other side is indented as part of the water slide. You set it up the way it shows and then you have to figure out how to move the pieces so that Milo can get from A to B. It is a grid of 9 spaces and you always leave one blank so you can move pieces around. Each puzzle gets a little bit harder, but the first several are easy so you can get the gist of it.I did the first 14 puzzles and had to make myself stop….it is addicting! So not only is it a puzzle but kids have to learn how to tilt the box to get Milo to move. This makes it great for hand/eye coordination also. You can only give Milo a little nudge to get him started. This is a one player game.The pieces here are super sturdy. I do wish they had included an extra ball and little raft. If you loose those you can still play, you just wont have Milo to zip along on his water slide. I also would like to have the paper on the spiral bound game book be a little heftier and the spiral on my book has a broken spot so every time I turn the page I have to poke it back in. I cant bring myself to take a star off for this, but I would take 1/2 of a star off if that was an option.I wasnt really sure about this game when I ordered it, but I love it. AND it is not just for kids. Grownups or teenagers will like this too. A good one to have out on the coffee table for game night. This would make a great gift and the box is nice and sturdy for storage. By the Way…no water is involved with this game even though it is called Splash Labyrinth.The instruction booklet also has lots of ideas for Free Play if your kiddo likes to do it that way. I would purchase this again and look forward to lots of game night fun with my family.

We ordered this for our son who loves playing with labyrinths. The concept for this labyrinth game is great - there are many different configurations to try.Our son wished the pieces would have had more prominent ridges so the marble would stay in the tracks. It is really difficult to keep the marble on the box at all.
