Is this the same product as the previous tube I bought on which it actually was named for cold sores. This tube does not mention the condition cold so

It is the same product I have always bought for cold sores, so I'm guessing it is the same product you have bought. It gets rid of the cold sores, if that helps.

Is it suitable for children?

It does not say on the box or the tube that it is not unsuitable for children. I have just looked. There is not much in the tube. One only needs to put a tiny amount on the cold sore for it to be affective, and it works better when the sting first appears. It is not to be rubbed in I find, just put on. It is the best treatment that I have ever used.

What colour is the ointment? Is it see through?

The ointment looks a brownie colour, but on application becomes transparent. It is excellent, and reduces the time to clear the cold sore .
