Another cracking read from this duo
Our family have been fans of Julia Donaldson and Axel Schefler since first being given a copy of the Gruffalo 7 or 8 years ago. We have most of their books and love the bright and expressive drawings and the fun rhyming and lyrical text.If you are a fan you may notice that Stickman first appears in the Gruffalo's child as the toy that the Gruffalo's child carries with her through her adventures with the terrible mouse. And whats more, careful eyes will find the Gruffalo hiding in one of the illustrations in Stickman...Although we love all of the Donaldson/Schefler books (and you can't really think of one without the other) this is among our favorites. The great story of Stickman being mistaken for a stick by dogs, swans and children who all want him for something else is accessible and touching. There is a scary bit in which Stickman finds himself laid onto the logs in a fireplace, but all works out in the end.If you are new to these books I highly recommend the Gruffalo, A Squash and A Squeeze, and Stickman as the most out-standing of a great series of books.

Brilliant!
My 3 and a half year old son just simply adores Stick Man. Every night I send my son to his book shelf to select books for his night time reading, and since we have purchased this book, it has been selected every single night. We have loved all of Julia Donaldson's books (we own Snail and the Whale, The Gruffalo, The Gruffalo's child, Room on the Broom, The Spiffiest Giant in town and Monkey Puzzle) and this one is just as popular with me. I enjoy reading it to my son. As with all her stories, they are just the right length (not too long and not too short), have an engaging plot, really nice illustrations and appeal both to adults and children alike. Stick man has quite an adventure as he is mistaken for a stick and is then picked up one after another by a dog for a game of fetch, a girl for throwing into the river, a swan for building his nest, a father for a mast on a sand castle, a boy for an arm for a snowman and choir singers for firewood. He misses his stick family and wishes to be back with them. He finally makes it back home (I wont spoil your reading by saying how) just in time to celebrate Christmas with them. The story rhymes and the story line is very creative. I cant wait to get my hands on more of her books.

A Journey with Stick Man
In this charming tale, we follow Stick Man, a twig swept away from his family tree and into a series of misadventures. From being mistaken for a regular stick to enduring various trials, Stick Man faces obstacles with resilience and determination, all while longing to return home to his family.Beyond the playful narrative, the book also carries a heartwarming message about the importance of family and the power of perseverance. Stick Man's longing to be reunited with his loved ones resonates deeply, reminding readers of the bonds that hold us together, even in the face of adversity.🌟📚🌿

Funny and different
The media could not be loaded. We love this book, the kids laugh and start to predict what was coming. Good picture, modern style. NOT LONG to read.

Beautiful book that's not just for Christmas!
The risk with this book is that you'll end up pacing the house long after bedtime mumbling "I'm Stick Man, thats me!"A beautiful book featuring Julia Donaldson's signature lulling rhymes. I found it taught my young children to genuinely care about Stick Man's wellbeing! And it's Christmassy, which is always a plus.A favorite in our house.

Santa has a cameo
This was THE book for a few months and it's still in the rotation. There are a lot of good illustrations to talk about. Stick man sure does make sure that you don't forget his name, but it's just the right amount of repetition for a kid, and there's enough meat to the story to overlook the chronic introductions.
