BAMFF 4.0XL - 400 lumen dual LED Flashlight

just opened it - so initial thoughts on the BAMF40 400 lumen version. but they all share the same chassis.the short version: The on/off/mode controls are badly designed and cycle through the modes when you turn it on/off. this took it from a 4 star to a 2 star for me.positives:nice side clip, stands well as on end candle style, good girth for hand holding, flat spots all around it to keep it from rolling away. physical push button on the end cap for easy access in the dark.negatives:no momentary on/off by half-pressing a turned-off tail switch.the end cap push button - tapping the button cycles through ALL modes, including strobe modes. so flood+spot, flood high, spot, flood low, flood lower?, SOS strobe, fast strobe. so you ALWAYS have to cycle through all the strobe modes to get back the beginning. this knocks a solid star off for me, I HATE strobe mode.WORSE than that - the on/off full click ALSO cycles. So next time you turn it on, you get the next mode in the list.... surprise, that might be strobe! this really knocks off a solid 2 stars to me, I want a light to turn back on where it was when I last turned it off!the AAA battery insert is...peculiar. it's not clear what direction it should be installed in, if you didn't notice it when you pulled it out. the CORRECT direction is for the nipple end to go TOWARD the spring end (bulb side). this is easier to make happen if you remove the tail cap, instead of the light end, to gain access. there are no markings anywhere to guide. Removing the 3 AAAs from the insert is reasonably easy, but might require fingernails. No quick change here.a bit -too- girthy for easy pocketability, but could be worse.I'd love to see a 2x or 3x AA version of this (maybe with 3v support for 14500's) with the batteries inline instead of the insert.

Didn't last me an hour. The second I got it, I put the battery in the charging cradle until the cradle light turned green. I go outside to see just what I've purchased, maybe 5 minutes after I turned it on it went out. Will be returning ASAP/Pronto

I love Striker Tri-lights, have two in my garage. However the Striker flashlight is not any different than what we already own; disappointing for $75.

Worked well with AAA option, though not nearly as bright and battery cradle was on the cheesy side. Dropped in 18650 option... BAM! light flashed and went out for good.... and YES, I observed correct polarity.

It's a great size for the home or if you want a better throw. Runs on 4 AA batteries that are conveniently supplied. The modes are changed on the back of the flashlight which is good for certain holding positions and it helps to not turn on by accident if you have it in a bag. Light output is good for the price and and I'm surprised how well the flood light works. The flood light is especially useful for reading. I also like that I can see more of the path directly in front of me.

Live in CA. Finally making up an earthquake kit. This is going to be a great addition. Lots of light when turned on.

I purchased this as a gift for my grandson and he told me he likes it. I haven't had the chance to see it in operation, but if he is happy with it, then so am I.
