Easy to fit and instantly replaced my older model.
Very pleased with this. Not as bulky as the one I replace/updated. Works well and is quieter than the older model. Have to be patient when fitting cover as you have to get it just right for the pull cord to work but if I can do it anyone can. A little patience and perseverance is all that is needed. This helped but a finishing touch to my kitchen. The old one was very aged/yellow and it would have been to difficult timeless it and give it a thorough clean. When I took it down I saw the old one was 30 years old and still going strong! Let's hope this one lasts that long.

I'm a Fan of this Fan
Excellent buy. Very quiet ( not silent, it does have a motor) easy to fit and good price. Used every day for the last 10 months and has not missed a beat. Pull cord switch is strong and a solid switch , not like some I have had that barely click never mind switch.

Nice Looking Fan
Just the job. Replaced an old fan in a double glazed window. Fit ok in the window.. Struggled to fit the plastic brackets that hold the ladder strips without destroying the sealing gasket which is thin at that point. Easy to wire up. Very pleased with it now that it is in place - looks good

Major fault, don't buy
I bought the Xpelair GX6 as it was a good price and the right fit to replace an old fan we had in our bathroom window that was a little worse for ware but still in working order. After installing myself I was pleased with my work but could not get the shutter to open after pulling the cord. We ended up using tweezers to manually open the shutters which then allowed the fan to work. Once opened it would not close so needed unfortunately nudging to get it to close (we have a cold bathroom). Not ideal but serviceable while I got in touch with your customer services. Initially great service, I was offered a replacement shutter section which came 3 weeks later. I fitted this the same day and was dismayed to find it had the same issue. Again I contacted customer services and was this time offered a whole replacement. Great I thought. However, when this came I opened this box and found without even fitting that it had the same issue. I was dumbfounded this time that I could be unlucky enough to have 3 that don't work.Once again on the phone to your customer services I was this time told I should wait 3 minutes as the mechanism is a delayed start. Although I could not see any wax working within the system nor on the instructions (although on another model this was mentioned) I did the diligent thing and went and checked. I waited 5 minutes and had no luck, it did not open. The customer services lady had however offered to send an engineer. The engineer visited today. He was a nice enough chap. He came in with his muddy shoes all over my floor, looked at my fan, told me he had been to a similar job a few weeks back and took the shutter off. He told me it was not the wax version of the fan and that I should not have to wait 3 minutes for it to open. He then said it seems to be working correctly but could see it was not opening. He started taking screws out of the machine to change it. At which point after offering a cuppa (as my mum has always told me I should) I went to get on with some work. Two minutes later he came out saying he had taken pictures of the fan and the wiring and had to get confirmation he could work on it. In theory I can see the health and safety concern as the fan is just off set of our sink however it is 2 foot away and the wiring is secured to the wall before going 10 cm across the glass which can't be secured (some more knowledgeable folk may have an answer for this). When working on this obviously the electricity would also have been turned off. He was unfortunately told no, he could not replace it so went away saying get back in touch with customer services. When I get in touch with customer services this time I am told the engineers report has come in and its been put down as "Installer Error". This means its my fault the fan is not working and I can have no further assistance or refund.

Does the job, but seems to have manufacturing defect when using through glass
This was the only fitting I could find to replace an ancient Philips window fan, (187mm hole) so I had no choice, but if I had to do the same again I would think twice. There appears to be a manufacturing fault with the one I received (and at least one other in other reviews) that means the ladder strips do not correctly anchor into the outside casing and had to be screwed in.The inner casing would also not go back on perfectly once it had been removed, because the plastic seemed to have bent in the process of removing it (I was not heavy handed). The instructions are poorly written and the diagrams not very helpful (even more so because they are separate so requires a lot of page flipping)Also a little thing, but the exterior casing is black, but the screw hole caps they provide are grey, which just adds to the slightly unprofessional feel of the product. It did the job and the extraction seems to be satisfcatory, hence 3 stars. The customer was happy with the product once fitted, but it took at least an hour longer to fit because of the problems, so I'd think twice before using one again.

Xpelair GXC6 Kitchen Extractor Fan
Can only confirm with previous comments, this item should come with a wall fixing kit if wall mounting is required. Overall a very well constructed extractor fan, this fan has the option of a trickle air flow, that is you can set the flaps slightly open, this allows some air flow into the room, although on a windy day you might find it a bit draughty. Fixing: Once you have managed to open up a 180mm hole, not an easy task, you will need to buy the appropriate size pipe to insert into the hole, fixing the fan and wiring very simple task. Operation: Living abroad, the humidity where we are is usually high, so not only does it clear a kitchen of all smells and steam it does a great job of keeping the humidity low. Overall very pleased with this fan and cannot fault it in any way.

Happy so far
I've been using this for a while now in the bathroom. It was reasonably easy to fit once I got a professional to cut the window hole. It is a bit bulky and is a bit noisy with the vibration of the plastic but it works well and I can remove the casing to clean it too.

Xpelair GXC6 Kitchen extractor fan
Loooks well made and easily to install. Needs two people to fit it easily but I was able to do it on my own using masking tape to hold the external bezel while i linked up the internal motor unit and screw tightened the inner and outer parts together. The fixing instructions are not clear when read initially but become clear as fixing progresses. Like most instructions these days they can be understood after you have done the job. The design is good and does it's job very quietly. Recommended.
