Best delay pedal I've owned bar none
So first off, I've been playing guitar for over 35 years. I've had some success on indie labels in bands, and as a solo media composer over the years. You've likely heard my stuff and wouldn't realize it. Point being, I'm no slouch when it comes to guitar playing and gear. With that said, this is the pedal you're looking for, Obi Wan. First reason being is that you can set the delay time by strumming. That is, when you step on the pedal and HOLD it, it silences the output, and then you can simply strum the rhythm that you want to set the delay interval to. So if you're playing a live set, and you want the echoes to fall on the 8th notes, you just stomp on this guy and hold it, strum a few 8th notes, and let it go, and BAM, delay is synced exactly with the song you're playing. Awesome.Feature #2 that you're gonna like is the TonePrint function. Basically, this pedal has more than just delays in it. It has various modulation filters you can tap into. TonePrint is a free application for your SmartPhone or laptop. The factory library has dozens and dozens of professionally designed presets (by all kinds of recognizable players). BUT, that's not all, using the application on your laptop, you can design your own and save them. So if you want to add a little gentle flanger to the delay chain, you can tweak how much you want, which knob controls it, and save it on your laptop in a user library as well as send it to your pedal using the USB cable. The other cool part is that you can "beam" the presets to your pedal using your smartphone. NOTE: this only works with electro-magnetic pickups, not piezo electric pickups, so it doesn't work with most acoustic electric pickups. Basically, you select the preset you want to beam to the pedal in the app for your smartphone, hold your phone's speaker over the pickups, and it will play this ultra high frequency pattern that changes the preset on your pedal. From what I can tell, you're limited to the factory issued presets to use this feature (I don't see how one might get user created presets onto your smartphone.....there may be a way.....but I haven't experimented). On top of all that it's SMALL. Takes up very little room on your pedal board. So, I think you're out of excuses. It's not expensive, it's small, and it's awesome. Do it.

Tons of delay options a single easy-to-use pedal!
While the TC Electronic Flashback is hardly a "boutique" piece of gear, you'll see it featured on a lot of expensive-looking pedal boards because it's just so darn versatile! I've had a Boss DD-3 Digital Delay for some time - it's great at what it does. I've used a couple of inexpensive "analog"-sounding delay pedals, and they're great also. But the Flashback is a single pedal that can go from one type of delay to another with a flip of the selector knob. And that's really why I believe this one will stand the test of time.To be honest, I'm likely to use a few of the delay settings much more than the others. The "2290" delay appealed to me because I grew up as a fan of U2's The Edge, and in fact, he was my entire reason for wanting to check out delay in the first place. The 2290 delay is a bright, percussive delay - it's not terribly unlike the DD-3, except the Flashback has added features of quarter note, dotted eight, or combined repeats. So if you're looking for a compact, affordable way to get that dotted eighth delay made famous by U2 and featured heavily in many other types of music, the Flashback is a great place to start.A couple other features worth mentioning... The "Delay" knob sets the time of the delay, and functions like it would on any other delay pedal. But there is also an option to hold down the soft bypass switch for a few seconds, which kills the sound and allows you to strum out the rhythm on your guitar like a metronome and set the timing that way. It does work, though it may or may not be your preferred way to set timing (strumming in the proper time silently is harder than it sounds!).Also, this pedal features a 40-second (mono) looper, which I've read some criticism about. I tested it, and it works pretty well for what it is, which is a "throwaway" feature on pedal that otherwise focuses on delay. Still, don't be too quick to dismiss it completely. I actually have a dedicated looper pedal (similar to TC Electronics' own Ditto Looper), and while it's superior feature-wise to the looper on the Flashback, it's never going to be a permanent fixture on my pedalboard. By contrast, the Flashback would be a pedal that would be affixed to my board and used frequently. So if I'm just messing around and want to solo over a simple chord progression, the Flashback will be there to handle that. Finally, TC Electronic pedals have a "TonePrint" customizable delay slot, and you can edit this using a USB cable and a computer, or download artist signature delays from online. I believe you can even use the "BEAM" feature from a smartphone - it emits a high-pitch screech that is picked up by your guitar's pickup, and funneled through to the Flashback. I'm not kidding, this is how it sends the new preset to the pedal. And it usually works, except when it doesn't. The iOS app is a little buggy and needs to be updated more frequently. Still, a pretty cool idea. This is a great delay pedal that is well worth the price. It's well-built, versatile, and pretty easy to use relative to its insane feature set.

The delays are mostly good sounding, particularly the Space Echo model
The X4 has lots of headroom so you can patch it at the end of a chain of pedals without it breaking a sweat. It's also very quiet with virtually no self noise. The delays are mostly good sounding, particularly the Space Echo model, which sounds nothing like a Space Echo but it's still pretty useful. Now for the bad part: the switches have a tendency to go bad, and as they are electronic relays rather than mechanical they are difficult to replace. This shows quite early, so check your unit carefully when you get it, I had to send two back before I got one that worked fine.Besides that, my main gripe is that none of the tape or analogue delay models have the delay time linked to the pitch, as they should have - therefore t's impossible to recreate the 'warble' effect with this unit, which for me is a major flaw. Several people requested this in the TC forum but the software has not been updated in over two years. The Toneprint feature is, in my opinion, a bit of an amateurish gimmick.

Awesome
Beautiful. I like toneprint as a way to control the pedal, especially on computer. However editing via toneprint is not very practical mid performance as the pedal outputs a loud noise when the preset is changed.Build quality is top class. I wish it were stereo delay but I wouldn't take a star off for that as I'm sure mono satisfies 90% of people's needs. The larger models allow for stereo so I will likely upgrade at some point...

A great value basic delay, or many delays in one tiny pedal. You choose!
A superb high quality digital delay for not much money. This gives you access to everything from pristine digital delays, modulation delays, and simulated analog and tape delays. The Toneprint feature allows you to try dozens of presets, some of which are subtle and usable and others are more extreme and give you a starting point to make your own sounds using the Toneprint editor on your PC. The option to set the delay time by strumming (the signal is muted when this happens) is great, and works far better for me than using my leaden foot. The one negative is that I wish there was a way to store user Toneprints with the phone app. Perhaps this is something TC will do in a future update.Be warned, however. I bought the mini pedal because I thought I just needed a basic delay with basic controls at the end of my little pedalboard . Having played around with it for a few days and heard the creative possibilities, I'm now saving up for an Echolution 2. TC should call this little gem the Gateway Delay.

Exceeded expectations!
Excellent unit - does all I want from it and more. I bought it as in gigging situations I need a number of presets to cover the material we do but I also need tap tempo - this pedal does it all and fabulously well; I particularly love the modulated model. Truth be known, I probably won't use all of the features available but it's nice to have things like the loop function - it may come in handy.Build quality extremely good - like all of the TC Electronic products I have; I would expect it to stand up to many years gigging.Good price too!

Great pedal - don't be fooled by the diminutive size!
The pedal has a really clear tone, and adds greatly to the 'size' of the guitar sound. I use it with a Fender Strat and Tele, and it works well with both. It's worth checking the online 'toneprint' (I used the mobile app), which gives access to slapback (as well as some really far-out effects), which I struggled to achieve by twiddling the controls myself. It's maybe worth noting that the 'tone print' works by playing the 'sound' from your mobile 'into' the pickup (i.e. holding the speaker directly over the pickup as the sound plays). This wasn't really at all obvious to me from the controls, but worked perfectly when I sussed this out (following searches on youtube).
