BarbieInspiring Women Series Katherine Johnson Doll

I have been a fan of the late Nichelle Nichols for a long time, but had no idea there were any black women working for NASA before I discovered "Hidden Figures" & S.T.E.M.So I purchased to movie & the book right away, but I put off buying this lovely Katherine Johnson doll, even though the price was lower.But I finally took the plunge this week despite the higher price,as this doll will most likely go out of stock indefinitely.The box was in pristine condition (even though I don't usually keep my Barbie dolls in their boxes).Katherine's face, eyeglasses, earrings, dress, ID badge & shoes are beautiful. Her legs don't bend, & I had to comb out her hair because I didn't like the hard, hairsprayed texture, other than that, she was well worth the money.I will cherish this doll forever, along with my Lieutenant Uhura doll!

This is the second doll I’ve gotten as the first one was opened by my granddaughter who was 2 at the time, lol. But I vowed to get this one again and this purchase was worth every penny in my option. Shipping took a while but it arrived as scheduled and was in new condition as described. So happy to have this treasure back!

Happy that Barbie is more than a blonde bimbo these days. These collectibles are for children and adults. Bought this as a gift for a 30 year old female science teacher. She is a space fan but it also adds to her teaching aids in showing high school girls contributions by women in the field. This real live non-white woman shows the mixed heritage of contributors to NASA and is dressed in appropriate clothing for the era. Decently priced. Wish I could afford to get them all

My back ordered Katherine Johnson Barbie came from Amazon today! It’s even more amazing than the pictures promised. The level of detail in the glasses 👓 and NASA badge and facial features are incredible. This was made with real passion.I predict in 40 years that the new head of NASA will tell us that she was inspired to want to work there because of her book and movie and Barbie from Hidden Figures. It’s so important that the new generation of kids, including kids of color, are getting excited about spaceflight again!

Mattel is to be commended for their new line of Barbies that don’t focus on that bizarre old body image. We are delighted to give Katherine Johnson to our granddaughter, who has studied about Ms Johnson in school. Unlike the old dolls, this one has “joints” at the elbow and wrist. We’ll see how those hold up.

this was a gift for my sister who collects barbies. She is also into the sciences. This turned out to be the perfect barbie because it was based on a notable African American scientist who overcame great odds during time of great struggles and still gave so much to her field of study and for future scientists to come. I would recommend this to anyone wanting to teach their families diversity and about history as well. This also makes a great gift for barbie collectors everywhere.

I really am very happy for Barbie making such a nice doll to commemorate one of the most important women in our history that helped make Impossible issues possible for the NASA program that history during my youth failed to recognize. Still, thank you Barbie or should I say Mattel for coming out with these beautiful dolls. My only issue is that the doll that I received does not quite look like the doll that was advertised they look slightly different in facial features and hairstyle as well as the quality of the dress. My only request to Mattel is that when emulating important or famous people as a Barbie doll please step up a little bit more in the quality of the doll’s complete design.

My mom is a collector and has over 100 Barbies! This Katherine Johnson doll is one of her favorites. Mattell did an exceptional job creating this doll from her likeness. I'm proud to have gifted it to mom!
