RK ROYAL KLUDGE M87 Wireless Gaming Keyboard with Screen & Dual Knobs, Red

First and foremost the color scheme of white, red and black match my PC's color scheme to the "T". So needless to say I love the color. I usually do a lot of research on items before buying and this one was a tough one, not a lot of reviews outside of Amazon. However, I am so happy that I made the purchase. For the last 2 years I've used Logitech 's MX Keys (100% board). I made the purchase back then based off the reviews, and it made sense since I already owned the MX Master 3 (mouse). No matter how much you research into Logitech MX keys, nothing prepared me for the crap quality of that board. I don't use a desk, my PC is in the bedroom thus (when in use) the keyboard sits on my bed. My bed is really low to the ground, I say about 3 feet up. After dropping it onto my rug a couple times, the entire thing came apart. So much for the metal finish, which is actually some sort of plastic that is made to look like metallic. Keyboard costed $120 before tax. Now back to the Royal Kludge M87. The build quality can be felt the moment you take it out of the box. This thing is heavy! Yes it's a 70-75% board but it has some weight to it. I love it. I'm an 80's baby that grew up with 90's tech. So when I started to type on this thing the sound brought back so many memories. Not only does it sound great, but pressing onto they keys is highly satisfying. I plugged in the 2.4ghz dongle, scrolled through the menu options via the second wheel and clicked. BOOM! instantly connected. Works amazing! Started to play with the lighting options and man, this thing exceeded my expectations. If you like unicorn vomit, this keyboard offers it. However, I personally like 1 unified color and they have plenty of options to choose from. I am in no way shape or form a keyboard enthusiast. Meaning if you want something great that is just going to work out of the box, look no further! Royal Kludge offers mechanical keyboards at a decent price (that isn't priced gouged out the wazoo) reliable and built to last. I never heard of Royal Kludge until recently when I started to research mechanical keyboards to replace my poorly constructed Logitech key board. I am so happy I've made this purchase. Best part of it all, I got it for $69.99 before tax. Logitech can kick rocks, my money will be going to RK if I ever find myself back in the market. I will highly recommend this to anyone and everyone looking for a mechanical keyboard!

Absolutely exceeded my expectations. Color is on point, feels, looks, sounds (keys) RETRO. Or the vibe. The mini display is a nice touch and easy to navigate. Simple functions mind you, which is perfect. Super cool metal dials for psychos like me for control, and volume. Very cool!

I am incredibly impressed with this keyboard. The color choices and GIF display fit perfectly into my setup, and it has a great, hefty weight to it. There is absolutely no cheap, hollow plastic feel here - you are getting a completely premium product. The hands-on experience is phenomenal. The keys have a deeply satisfying, smooth, "marbley" sound and feel amazing to press. The size of the keyboard is exactly as advertised, so no issues there. Price-wise, it's surprisingly affordable for such a premium experience. It is honestly worth every penny for the build quality alone. Highly recommend!

I have two Royal Kludge keyboards and I love them. The problem with this one is it will not charge. I contacted the manufacture and sent emails back and forth for over a month. They claimed that it was an issue with the PCB and told me to get with the seller. By that time it was to late to do anything about it as the return window was closed. Now I am stuck with a wireless keyboard that will never be able to be used wirelessly. It works great as long as it is plugged into a power source. I asked for just a replacement PCB and I would fix it my self so they didn't have to pay to send me a new keyboard and pay to have me sent this one back but they wouldn't go for it. I am saddened that I have to wright this negative review because I really love both of my RK keyboards. After talking with support they offered to replace the keyboard or a refund. I do enjoy my keyboards. Service was great.

My husband and I both have this model keyboard and we both use it the most out of all our other boards. My husband has two other others that have been shelved for so long they’re almost starting to gather dust while I have four boards that I just use for display now because I’d rather use this one. We have both the red version and the blue version, there’s no difference except the color. The lighting is one of my favorite parts. It’s very bright and there are plenty of preset patterns to pick from. I will say that sometimes the clock is off on the little display, but it really only happens about every couple of months and it’s just usually off by a minute or two.

I’m absolutely in love with this keyboard! The typing experience is so smooth, and it makes a very satisfying 'clack' sound that's not too loud but gives great feedback. The build quality feels very sturdy and premium, and the color scheme is unique and looks fantastic on my desk. I appreciate having both the volume and brightness knobs; it’s a small detail but super convenient. I’ve tried a few mechanical keyboards, and this one is by far my favorite. Highly recommend it to anyone looking to improve their setup for work or gaming.

Absolutely love this keyboard, have had no issues what so ever with the connection, the instructions are a little confusing but if you get the app on your PC for the keyboard, uploading a GIF, personalizing the lighting is a breeze. the keyboard is sturdy and heavy. Size makes gaming easier for my smaller hands, and the buttery clicking is music to my ears. 10/10 will be buying from Royal Kludge again. (the photo is after i replaced the key caps with custom ones)

UPDATE (7-2-2025, only 7 months old!): Keyboard started failing. Right control knob no longer works and isn't replaceable like the switches. Two switches have stopped working but I was able to replace them. Software updater is not working properly either. Quality is poor as three components have already stopped working in less than a year. What a waste of good money. I worked hard to earn it. This company did not work as hard to produce the product. As a result, a waste of my time and efforts. Stay away and look for something else. I recommend a keyboard perhaps made in the USA next time. [My original "premature" review]: The layout is perfect. The keys physical and sound response is amazing! It brings me right back to the 80's and 90's with the PCs of my younger years of programming! Amazing how many of us left this style keyboard in trade from slim silent keyboards. Now I literally enjoy every letter I type again. Thank you so much for a perfect design and build. It's a work of art and engineering. Hand's down, one of the best self-gifts to date. lol.

My favourite keyboard so far. Love the layout, the features, and the gif screen

One of the best keyboard in market, very good quality its heavy and steady. Keyboard is super premium and the creamy switch is music to ears when you type. Must buy, i have compared with Aula and this turns out to be better.

the keyboard is very nice and I enjoy using it. It works both with USB C and wireless mode. the only thing I find clunky is: - the volume of my machine is not synced with the screen on the keyboard. Effectively making it useless. - I would love to have Mac keys or a possibility of purchasing them so it makes it easier to work with Apple products.

Wasn’t sure what to expect out of this. I have had some great and not so great keyboards over my time, but this is a winner! The good! Really nice sound and feel! This is so satisfying to type and game on. It just feels so nice. Looks. I love how this looks! Everyone who sees it comments on how good it is! The ok stuff Despite its great quality it is not quite as polished as some main brands. You are able to control most things through the keyboard interface itself, but you will probably need the software if you want to dive in. Getting the software felt a bit dodgy. There is specific software for each model so you had to really search for the right one. The software itself is fine. It functions. It has the parts you need. It just feels a bit clunky. Battery life Again. It’s fine. I am recharging at least once per week. Half the time I just leave it in usb mode rather than wireless to avoid the hassle. Overall, nothing bad and lots of good/ great! Would definitely buy again.

100% recommended it is very nice looking and the clicking sound is very nice.
