Beautiful, required reading 4 interest in philosophy, history, legal justice system, & ALL faiths. Get something truly wise and important on your bookshelf. Beautiful gift for anyone interested in the above. Beautiful piece in your library. For those who don't know, the Tanakh is the Old Testament portion of the Bible, or also known to some groups of Christian denominations as the First Covenant (as opposed to what they would call the New Testament, or the Second Covenant, when Jesus came to fulfill the scriptures per Christian teaching - nothing to vote down or argue, this is what Christians believe as a fact of history and current reality). This book, the Tanakh, the Old Testament, the Hebrew Bible, makes up 75% of the Christian Bible, whereas the New Testament makes up only 25% of the Christian Bible.I urge people to read this beautiful book in English or whatever language they can understand. Read and learn the beautiful relationship God has started with people who simply tried to follow him - and sometimes failed. That's why some say there are harsh or strange things in the Bible - I thought so too and asked a Christian pastor why there were such awful and strange stories, and he explained that the Bible is DESCRIPTIVE - not PRESCRIPTIVE. It describes things that happened, and what the consequences were, and how the threads of the narrative and themes are woven all through from the Old Testament into the New Testament.Once I started studying it, I was blown away by what was uncovered and misunderstood and misinterpreted by so much of secular culture. Also note that this is a very important piece of study even for Muslims, as their sacred texts are based on the Hebrew Bible - for the Islam religion was begun by a man named Mohammad who claimed to be the final prophet AFTER Jesus (whom they call the second last prophet), and so their religion is based on Judaism and they used to be themselves either Jews or Pagans. Mohammad invited Jews to join them in his religion but they declined and this angered Mohammad which ignited hatred for centuries. Regardless which is the true or false faith, those are historical facts.Even if you are an atheist student of philosophy and want to know the archetypes that are critical for psychological analysis and philosophical debate, then knowing, studying and understanding the bible is absolutely a necessary and vital requirement.Learning and studying the bible and its themes is just important if you want to be smart and understand this life at all. There is more to life than the current last 20 years of modernity, the internet, what's "cool" on a music video and what marketing brands or alcohol people are consuming and kinds of sex people are having that should be private. There has been at least 6 thousand years of recorded history. 20 years of debauchery is not what life is about. Please do not believe any lies about Jewish people and go travel to Israel to spend time there and the borders and see for yourself, then you will see the truth with your own eyes. Ask yourself if millions have been massacred in this way if some cabal of evil jews were trying to run and control the world. This is a beautiful gift for a Jewish man who lost many family members because of Hitler's Holocaust in WWII which massacred at least 6 million Jews, many other marginalized people like Blacks, Gypsies, homosexuals and other undesirables, and medically experimented on them as well.Get something truly wise and important on your bookshelf.
