Great value, and a great buy for the novice flyer
I bought this for my daughter who has had a few very small and cheap drones, and as she has maintained an interest this looked like a good next step that wouldn't break the bank. It is well packaged, comes with two batteries for the drone and a battery for the remote. The drone batteries have a proprietary case to attach the the drone easily, the remote battery uses a common connection that is found on many of the small cheap drones (so we have spares, yay). There were eight spare propellors, spare screws and end caps for over the screws, as well as a wee screwdriver which was a welcome addition for convenience. There is also an usb adapter for reading from the supplied 8GB memory card. There was also a small notebook and pen in a small cardboard case that also contained tiny post its, which was a very nice addition. The first page of the notebook contained support information should it be needed, and this reinforced something that came across in several reviews I read, which is a commitment to customer support that is uncommon among drone manufacturers at this price point (I've gladly not had to use).My daughter (10, although this is marketed at 14+) found setting up and synching the controller to the drone to be easy, and the controls are typical and intuitive enough. Video is clear through the controller screen, with little interference. The drone is certainly powerful enough to withstand a light breeze, and is very responsive to control. Removing the camera is easy, and the 8GB memory card just pops out and could be transferred using the supplied usb adapter. I didn't need any specific software, and none should be needed, video is recorded in a format that Win 10 and MacOS should not have any issues with. Video quality was fine, and slightly clearer than seen through the controller screen which was as expected. We bought during a special offer period, but even so this represents great value for money and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend.Note the pic was taken after this had been used heavily.

Great little FPV racing drone
I had wanted a drone capable of FPV (first person view) for a while, but most others required a mobile phone to receive a live video signal, I don't own a mobile phone, so the screen being part of this drones controller was perfect.I had previously owned a smaller "toy" drone before this for practice and needed an upgrade. The drone is sleek and sturdy, which is good because I've crashed it with quite a force a few times and not broken a blade yet! She's fast and responsive which is great for flying around my garden or at the park. The controller is comfortable and feels quality. The screen is bright and crisp. The camera is good enough for FPV, and offers fairly good ariel photography despite some distortion due to vibration. If I had a small complaint it would be I wished the camera could be angled up or down to get a better view of the ground - but this is not this drones purpose, it's more built for racing. If I want to extend the already ample battery life, I pop the camera module out to lighten the drone. My advice for people trying FPV for the first time, would be make sure you are in a large open area to practice! It was challanging for me to get my bearings being so used to flying without FPV. Also make sure there are no obstructions between you and the drone, as the video signal will drop almost instantly if there's anything in between the controller and the drone. The drone was well packaged with spare parts and even a spare battery! They also include connectors to charge all batteries at once (2 drone and 1 controller). The battery can be replaced very easily, as too the camera to allow access to the SD card.I highly recommend this fast little flyer for learning FPV, and the overall build quality is forgiving to mistakes.

Nice item
Not as durable as we would have liked considering the price. I bought this as a gift, but it only made a short trial indoors before one of the propellers stopped spinning. Returned for a full refund. May have been a one off product fault. But decided to buy something else a little more expensive but more robust.

Great fun but not for long
Amazing fun with this, great camera, fast, quite easy to use but the battery dead in controller after 30mins and you only get one. The batteries in the drone last about 15-20mins at a time but you get 2 with it and cheap to buy more online.

Raw and exciting
Open the box of the HS230 and you find a ready to fly drone that in it's sleek black designs seems to be straining to get out, as the owner of 2 other drones this was a huge positive. The transmitter with LED screen is of good design and not covered with "snazzy" decorations or gimmicks. The drone battery is a clip in with a security lever and takes seconds to fit or change, that believe me is a real bonus! Within minutes, because the batteries had a charge in them I was out flying and what an experience. The controls are light to the touch and so responsive, it is a dream to fly and the speed! I started off at level 1 and zipped acroos the sky and up and up away! The excitement of zooming back down and seeing it race towards you is amazing. Onto level 2 and things get hotter,..... level 3 may take a bit longer before I get to that. This craft has no return home button, no hover button it is raw flying and skill but in saying that it is a machine a novice could also easily handle. The bad news is for my other 2 drones,....... they have been sat in their hangar, (my shed) since I purchased this. An issue with one of the motors was promptly sorted out by the backup team from Holy Stone and does not detract from the value and satisfaction of the drone. One correction I would make to the transmitter is to change the transmitter battery cover to a simular design to the one on the drone, a small niggle or an impatient guy who just wanted to get back out and FLY! As you can guess very pleased with the HS230!
