Q: does this tool rachet like the regular caulking guns, untill you get to the end of the tube?

no it doesn't ratchet. It squeezes evenly from the smallest point. It is very effective in emptying the tube. But you have to place the tube squeeze and then place the tube again. At least that has been my experience. Good tool for money. Keeps from wasting the solutions.

Q: What is the maximum size tube that can be used with this tool? Household adhesive/caulk tubes?

these are for 3oz automotive silicone tube / 2 1/2 inch with opening
