Very nice laptop
I am very happy that I bought this laptop. It was easy to set up. However, the keyboard has a different layout to what I'm used to. Especially as I bought it specifically to use it with Whisper and the '\' is a bit tricky to access. As I have only owned it for a week, I have only just scratched the surface of it's abilities.

A fan of HP must be the silent type
Review after 2 days of ownership. Possibly subject to change. As far as spec. Very pleased for the price. Seemed like a great deal to me.Laptop is very heavy. But I won't be using it much away from the house, so not an issue for me. Screen is fantastic.Heavily marked with greasy fingerprints in no time.Possibly my main issue (though not one worthy of returning item), would be the backlit keyboard. The spacebar in particular appears as though it's been used heavily (although I'm sure it hasn't). But the backlight shows only about quarter way from left to right of the spacebar. Then there's a completely dark patch. Then a tiny portion lit at the far right of the spacebar. As I've said, it makes it look as though someone (or something) has been pressing hard on it. Although I can confirm looking directly level along the keyboard it's an optical illusion. Just a shame the backlight doesn't look so good on this particular key. Not a massive issue however.Fan is incredibly quiet. Not a sound with the graphics card not being used. But even when it 'kicks-in' it's still pretty quiet. Much more so than previous gaming laptops I've owned.Doesn't seem to heat up too badly at all.Battery life isn't the best. Haven't calculated how long a full charge lasts but definitely appears to lose charge relatively quickly and without heavy work or gaming.Overall, I'm very pleased. Especially for the price. But it isn't perfect.I'd still recommend. Don't think you could do much better than this spec for the price. I also trust HP as a brand, having used them many times previously. The additional headphones I received in a package deal with this product were an added bonus and are very good indeed.

Good value
I needed a big screen laptop with graphics horsepower and this seemed like a good price for a very good spec.Normally the first thing I do with a laptop is install Linux because most of the time, unless you need a Windows-only app, it's a safer and more flexible OS by a long way. And it's free. However, having bought the Omen and done a lot of googling I realised that it was too new to be properly supported by Linux so I shrugged and opted to continue with Windows 11.I've been using Windows for years now and the first job is always to tell it not to share my data with Microsoft. The second is to remove or disable the crud that always comes with it. Having done all that and installed my favourite apps this laptop is near faultless. I use GIMP with very large graphics files and the Omen has no problem at all with them. The keyboard is good (not great) for typing. The screen is superb; glowing colours that make my previous Dell laptop look muddy.A word of caution; after a day of use, the laptop began to freeze every few hours (I have been using it most days for several hours at a time). No response from keyboard, black screen. I left it for 2 minutes or so and it recovered with no issue. This kept on happening. Googling the problem gave only vague hints, probably because this is a new machine. In the end I removed most of the HP apps as I really don't need them. I also disabled all of the 'go to sleep' options in the power settings. Problem solved! This gets 5 stars because despite the hiccups it really is an excellent machine that does exactly what I wanted.BTW I bought a spare charger off Amazon - just a few quid and it means I don't have to carry it around with me.

This is a large quite heavy gaming laptop but it does the job very well
This is a large comparatively heavy lap top, but boy it is a really good games platform! My old laptop died so I was looking for a replacement. I don’t need to carry it around much so size and weight were not an issue, so when I saw this HP Omen on sale in the Amazon spring event I didn’t a bit of research. Reviews were all positive (apart for the weight!). So I purchased one. I am so glad I did as it has a great screen and has had no problems playing top tier games. It also stays very cool compared to my last one which I suppose is an advantage of the larger case. All in all I am well impressed!

Raw drive issues within 36 hours of use.
Initially really liked this product. Found the webcam procided a super clear image. The included headphones were comfy and had good sound quality on both the microphone and headset.Opening a few games from steam was quick and easy with clear gameplay.Issue was I started to get frozen screens. And then the black screen of death. Repeatedly.I only downloaded reputable programs such as Microsoft, steam, and Google Chrome in that time so likely caused by a problem with the device itself.More telling was that when I tried to ask amazon to provide me with a replacement they refused and said it wasn't an available option. I could only apply for a refund. There were still machines available to buy so that makes me think the build quality issue may be a known issue with this machine, especially with the very nice headphones that are thrown in.It's a shame as I really liked the machine until it very quickly died on me!It was quiet when gaming. The fans seemed to work well as the machine didn't overheat. Shame. I really would have liked to have tried a replacement model in case I was just unlucky with the build quality!

Good value gaming laptops
Good gaming laptops. My kids loved them and the lights are really cool. My only criticism is the fan is really noisy but I guess it's for a reason
