Devices to attach your GPS or phone to the air vent on your dashboard are typically frail and don’t fit securely. That’s because the vents are typically frail themselves. It’s frustrating for your GPS to fall off your dash in the middle of traffic. The heat of the sun over time takes a toll on plastics. This device uses a metal hook to attach to the air vent and uses a broader base for lateral and vertical stability. It’s fairly secure and allows you to easily adjust your GPS to be out of the way when looking driving. It uses a standard 17 mm mounting ball to fit many Garmin GPS devices.

One of the best and easy to install

The media could not be loaded. I can confirm that this fits my Garmin Nuvi devices. I have several Nuvis, and it fits perfectly, except for one. It was a super tight fit, and required a lot of force to press it into the ball socket.This is an unusual design, because it doesn't use spring loaded hooks to attach to the vent. You have to turn the cylindrical part to loosen or tighten the hook. Once installed, it feels very secure.I also noticed that this doesn't have bipods to support the weight of the Nuvi. My other vent adapter has two legs underneath so it helps support the weight. I don't think this will be a problem, since the Nuvi is fairly lightweight, and it doesn't feel like the vent is under a lot of stress.I have an old CRV, and the vent is still usable after installation. You can't tilt the vent up or down, but at least this doesn't close the vent. I was afraid it might cause the vent to point towards the floor. So far, so good. I can't really complain.

Quality: Well designed vent mount for 17mm ball mounts. Simple operation and secure attachment. Note that this mount will only work on vents with vertical or horizontal louvers.Functionality: Once this mount is secured to the vent and the GPS is attached to the ball mount, the GPS can be positioned to suit viewing needs. The only minor complaint is that the ball mount requires considerable force to rotate. It is probably best to remove the GPS and rotate the ball mount directly instead of applying force to the GPS unit.While the mount is pictured on an F150 truck, I plan on using this in rental cars.
