At least the world building was interesting...
Woof... This one needs some serious editing. I normally have kindle do "text to audio" so I don't notice grammatical errors as much, but this one had missing conjuctions, incorrect words, missing letters in words that changed their meaning... Did the author even go back to edit? As for the story, its an insta-love book with not a whole lot of depth or reasoning.

simple and satisfying
I admit it was the cover that first attracted me; and a mortal woman falling in love with the Angel of Death? Wonderful! From the blurb, I expected this to have a Christian-based angel mythology, but the author chose a Greek-inspired one that worked better than I anticipated. Azrael is a Reaper of Mercy, assigned to collect souls The Fates have deemed worthy. When he visits a hospital to reap a soul, Sara sees him - the only mortal who can see him in his Reaper form. Though his brother reapers have indulged in casual flings with humans, Azrael has refused to do so - until his curiosity compels him to learn more about her, and show her what he really is. Sara is skittish after a failed marriage, but it equally drawn to Azrael. But will the Fates allow them to find happiness? This story didn't bring anything new or unique to the paranormal romance genre, but I enjoyed the simple romance. Azrael and Sara are almost innocent in their love and I found that refreshing. Readers expecting explicit sex may be disappointed. The sex is of the fade-to-black variety that was very fitting for a love story. I liked these characters, and would happily read a sequel. Surely Kol deserves to find love just as Azrael did? Overall, I couldn't put this down and will definitely look for more by this author. On a side note: despite being a self-published work through CreateSpace, this book is exceptionally high quality. The cover design is beautiful, the paper is bright white and thick, and I only noticed one typo (which is better than many big publishers). Lastly, the price is more than reasonable for a trade paperback. The author put as much care into the publication as the story.

Great book!
Sweet book, surprising since its the “angel of death” but sweet and nice read. I would only say the way Sara was towards his brothers was a little less than nice given how much they ended up helping him,but still a great read 😁

Kristen Painter manages to create a world in which the details can easily map out your imagination bringing you to a world filled with romance, loss and eternal love. As usual, Kristen creates an entertaining plot; her story flows easily, leaving you with the need to keep reading. Her characters are sexy, funny and sweet. I am amazed at how well their dialog flows and their interaction feels real. I honestly think this book has 2 more parts which I hope she writes one day. Kristen Painter makes us wish we had a Ripper of our own. She entice us by creating a wonderful character "Azrael" who is usually represented by sorrow and darkness (The Angel of Death) yet she manages to make him carrying, sexy and loving. Her characters bring such light to the story, making it interesting, and a page turner. I would love to read more about the 2 other reapers Chronos and Kol, each character brings depth and purpose to the story. This is a great read, one that I highly recommend.

Is now one of my favorite books!
I truly loved this book and couldn't put it down! The characters are strong and yet flawed enough that they are believable. I liked the h&h's relationship. They both had past issues to overcome including problems about thier present and future. And while they did eventually get their happy ever after the couple had to go through some unpleasantnes before they got there. Thier relationship slipped between a tender vulnerabilities, awkward moments and some intense feelings ( basicly a true relationship). As a reader I liked reading how they overcame this and grew as a couple. He is an alpha in the truest sense strong yet confident enough to not be controlling or overly dominating of his mate. He respects her and what she brings to thier relationship. She is strong and confident in that she doesn't act like an idiot to appear tough( a sad trend among heroines lately). She knows what she is capable of handling and what she isn't. Now the other two reapers are just as engaging as the main couple in this book. They honestly had me hooked and I so hope their stories will be told. Loved this book and truly hope there is more to come.

Nice quick reading.. but ummm
Once in a while I leave my normal human book boyfriends and vampire ones and come to say hello to my angel ones. Reading about angels is tricky if you ask me... Too much information and your reading becomes sunday Bible school all over again, to little and they become weirdos in halloween costumes in March...This book really got a perfect balance in our main character Azrael , The Angel of Death a.k.a a Reaper. It made him look divine and human at the same time. I liked that our main female character Sarah was a woman with a brain and common sense. So why the low rating you might be asking yourself?? Well it was mainly because it was supposed to be a paranormal romance story and in my taste it happen to fast, to soon, to superficial : In less than a week Sarah travels to the underworld, falls in love with an Angel, goes out in three dates and ends up marrying in Las Vegas??... (rolling eyes here)I get Azrael was to be presented as pure, since he never had contact with a human woman before, but in some parts he came up as a horny hormonal teenager and not the divine being he was supposed to be.......

Loved the story...but lacked something.
Azrael is a reaper, he meets Sara whilst collecting a soul at the hospital where she is a nurse. She is the first mortal who can see him in his reaper form. She doesn't believe him when he tells her what he is, instead she thinks the beautiful man before her is crazy! But when he proves it she is drawn to him like no other. Sara fascinates Azreal, and she helps him discover the pleasure of life, and they fall hopelessly for each other. Happiness however is short lived, when it is discovered that Sara is dying from a brain tumour. Heartbroken, Azrael believes he is responsible for her illness and leaves, wiping her memory of him in the hope that she will recover.Obviously the story doesn't end there but I won't spoil it for you! I did love this story, Azrael is anything but what you expect Death to be, and Sara is a great heroine. There love story is compelling and heartfelt and the build up to when they finally come together is gripping, but then that's where the 'lacking' part comes in. I expected some steamy scenes as there are a couple of 'nearly did it' scenes but it was skipped. One minute they are going to finally get it on and the next it's the following morning! I felt a bit short changed, I think not including it took something away from the story. I felt it would be more intense, more heartfelt and tragic with at least one sex scene in it. As a result, it reads more like a YA novel but featuring a 30 year old heroine.Having said that, I would still recommend reading this book, it's still a lovely romance story and enjoyable despite of the lack of steam!

All in all a great read
Having come to this from the Nocturne Falls series I thought I'd sit and read this book.It was well written, the characters were very likeable and not what you'd expect especially with Azrael. The reason for only four stars was that it did read as if it was aimed for a YA audience. There was a big will they/won't they build up, it was a little saccharine and the one sex scene in the book was skipped. It would have been nice to have shared in that part of the plot, though I'm not one for immense sex scenes. That said, I liked the story and how well it read. I loved the characters and the plot was strong, and even very heartfelt. All in all a great read.

Great read.
I started reading Kristen Painter books just this year. I love the unusual characters she has. This one with the Angel of death had me wondering how it would be possible for him and Sara to be together. Wonderful ending.
