Not good for streaming content.
I am leaving this review to help other potential buyers make an informed buying decision. I want to stream Netflix, Hulu, SlingTV, DLNA, etc. from my laptop or tablet to a 1080P HD TV. This works very well with an HDMI cable (full 1080P, very responsive, etc.). I was trying to eliminate the HDMI cable and this device looked promising. I considered two devices, this one and the Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter. This device has more flexibility (analog outputs, wired Ethernet, etc.).With this device, I could never get the resolution up to 1080P. Also, it does not stream well. The picture was jittery and the audio was out of sync. I talked at length with StarTech support. They said this device is more suited for an office conference room and display of relatively static content like PowerPoint slides, and I think it might be good for that.BTW, the Microsoft device was better, but not perfect. The picture and audio were better, and in sync, but the resolution was still less than 1080P.The bottom line:- I will continue using an HDMI cable- A cable transmits data much better that the air :)

DIsappointed
Bought this unit because it offered RCA analog outputs. But Miracast content will NOT be output over RCA. You only get a splash screen and "waiting for connection" screen over RCA, or from what I've read, any content on a thumbdrive plugged into this adapter's USB port. Point is the RCA outputs are useless, and that's really the only differentiating feature compared to cheaper units.Otherwise, it takes close to a minute to boot up, outputs image fairly smoothly over 5ghz wifi. Audio is choppy like a scratched LP. Short *blip* noises but a lot of them.If you're connected to 2.4GHz wifi you'll be unable to project wirelessly. Disconnected from wifi, or connected to 5GHz and you'll be ok.

Fastastic Device, Most Features, and Great Value for the Money.
This device was fantastic. I used it to mirror my Android device to my television, and it worked perfectly. Setup was seamless, and I was able to see my Android screen right on my television. It supported auto-rotation, Photos, Video, YouTube, and anything else that i tried. I like this device as it has additional options such as connecting other USB devices to it, hard-wired Ethernet, and comes with its own independent power supply if you do not want to use the USB port on your TV. I was about 20 feet from my TV and the image I was able to project was perfect in both still shots and video. The price is right too compared to other devices in its class.

The good:- Work as expected- Could be a little tricky to set it up, but if you call support you will get a great level of help right away. The Bad:- If you are working with multi dimension or high resolution images, could be challenging if you don't have a extremely WiFi connection, and even so, can be challenging,

Not so great
Great idea with poor performance. The signal is weak and does not travel more than 4 or 5 feet before weakening.. I had to revert to the wired solution to ensure true hd.

Superb service from StarTech technical support
This is a short review of both this unit and of StarTech's technical support staff.I was looking to find something that would allow me to stream music from a Windows 8.1 tablet in a manner similar to AirPlay on iOS. This unit seemed to nearly fit the bill, but I was unsure as the description focuses on streaming video rather than audio. I also did not wish to make the connection as device-to-device, as with Miracast or WiDi, but rather have the unit connected to the LAN and then use the WiFi infrastructure to get the audio stream to it. I ordered it to test, and then struggled to get it working on my own. So I reached out to StarTech's technical support. As has been my experience each time I have done so, the response was thorough and detailed. The representative that took on my case spent a considerable amount of time in their in-house lab to find a configuration that worked (we spoke on the phone on a number of occasions as he came up with a workable solution), and then emailed me detailed instructions on how to make it happen. So bottom line is that unit works with a wired LAN connection while receiving the audio stream across the WiFi infrastructure.More importantly, this interaction with StarTech Technical Support, as with my past dealings with them, has reaffirmed my belief that they are a committed bunch who will drill down into the product details to figure out make the product work for you.
