Malcolm [DVD]

Brilliant film
This Australian film seems to almost take over where the old Ealing comedies or Tony Hancock left off. It's got that same feeling of being connected to and drawn from real life in a way that Hollywood never manages Acting, plot, script rather than bombast, name-dropping and OTT. Of course it's a lot more up-to-date and full of Aussie character and Australia does produce some really good films. The music by the Penguin Cafe Orchestra is top-draw too.

A masterpiece
Three very different, flawed and free spirited people pool their talents to attempt a bank robbery.Whilst I guarantee that you will laugh out loud in a few places, this is not a farce. The gadgetry is all credible and is prone to mishaps. There is plenty drama tension, and even a romantic sub plot for Malcolm. It is a shame that the back cover telegraphs one of the big jokes, so keep the box hidden if you want to surprise anyone.I would not disagree with anyone that claims this to be the best comedy drama ever. As a production it is flawless. The only slight negative is that it is just a memorable fun film, about some lovable crooks, not an inspiration film that will change your life. The copy I received was region 0, which is suitable for the UK

Malcolm in a muddle?
Just watched this film. Starts off rather slowly with seemingly very slow interplay between the 3 main characters. An awkward movie to say very much about, but the cash robbery scenes are delightfully madcap and quite funny. What drew me to the film was that my name is Malcolm and when younger I was quite a shy person, but like the Malcolm in the film, soon found people who took me out of myself.Overall, as a piece of escapism, buy this film and lose yourself in its chaos.

This is a sad admission of defeat......
Buy this movie...... it is a truly beautiful tender and funny movie worthy of being compared with STRICKLY BALLROOM or MAD MAX and (rightfully) falls into that category of those incredible Aussi exports that left us pondering why we'd forgotten how to make enjoyable quirky movies (i.e. Ealing, Gainsborough, etc.).

You'll be in stitches. Excellent film and very very funny
I saw this film ages ago on late night telly and, annoyingly, didn't record it. I tried for ages to find it but eventually gave up. Then by chance saw it on here. It's absolutely fantastic and unbelievably funny, a real must see.I won't tell you what it's about or anything but if you buy this, you will not be disappionted, I guarantee it.

Brilliant, brilliant
Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant film. Quirky and original. Saw it on the telly years ago. So glad I rediscovered it on DVD all these years later. Has lost none of its charm. Just goes to show what you can achieve with a great story and great characters.
