A very good and reliable hard drive for CCTV.
I bought this to replace an identical one that I bought about 10 years ago. I use them for multi camera CCTV that records AHD 24/7.8TB stores 8 channels for around 4 weeks before overwriting the files.Comes very well packed and is a simple 'plug, format and play'.Delivery was quicker than expected. All good.

Great disk for CCTV NVR
Excellent Hard Drive that I have added in to a NVR. Disk was detected straight away and formatted perfectly. This operates perfectly fine for multiple 4k feeds so speed wise does the job.I've only had it installed for a matter of weeks so cannot determine how resilient it is.

WD HDD DoA
WD 10TB HDD arrived perfectly wrapped in an undamaged box, but was DoA. Completely dead. I contacted WD support who still asked me to download their test software. Of course it did not work as the unit was dead, but they still wanted me to try! Hard to understand how such an item can leave their factory as a total dud. Is there no quality control or testing of any kind?! A totally dead unit would fail and stand out in any basic factory test!!Returned via Amazon but repayment taking a few weeks.Ordered a replacement WD 12TB HDD which worked with no issues so far. I see many DoA reviews here and elsewhere for WD.Looks like WD have a lack of basic quality control at their factory. It’s a great product… if you get one that works!!

Working fine, just a little noisy
Arrived on time, and I've installed it into my UDMSE without any issues. However, it's noisier than I expected. Apparently, this is typical with larger disk drives

Very quite & smooth playback
I've had the drive in my Klear Pro Max NVR now for a couple of weeks, runs very quiet smooth playback. Obviously at this point don't know how the long term will be, but so far so good

Noisy
Does a lot more noise than the drive it is replacing. Do not install in the same room as you work in.

It's a HDD with a purple sticker in 2026.
It has survived 100k+ miles, turned off while driving, in a tractor trailer going through some of the bumpiest roads of the usa, including louisville repeatedly. It hits different in a truck.Ive kept it off for 3-6 months at a time, and possibly longer, and it held data without obvious corruption. Freezing temps, hot temps..I just need to reformat it to a larger cluster size. File integrity be damned, im not waiting hours for a few gigs.value for money is good. Hdd tech is hdd tech. You know. At least it has a high theoretical lifespan.Formatting can be done fine. At first i thought there was an issue with the drive but then i tried a different dongle and realized the drive was fine.Speed for hdd is not fabulous, and never will be, unless you run them in raid setups where you can get multiplied speed by the factor of however many drives your raid tyoe is setup for.Noise, i use it with a dongle ro a minipc right by my head. You hear some clicks, but nerds these days are usually loud mouths listening to backgroundvmusic while streaming as they do their homework, so a few clicks wont matter unless youre an asmr artist or recording studio quality soundtracks in the same room with high sensitivity mics. Its not bad.
