Q: Which country is this watch made/manufactured?

I think it is made in China. My previous Made-in-Japan key-chain-watch broke its glass-cover, when dropped on the parking lot. This replacement also got dropped once (my negligence again), without any damage - due to its silicone wrap-around. I am happy with it.

Q: I cannot open the watch to install the battery. Do you have any advice?

Usually, this kind of watch needs a Small Screw (or a chemist' spatula) to pry open the back-cover. Once that is open, you will find the battery is already there. You will need to pull out the plastic strip-barrier to allow the watch touching the battery for it to function. Set to the correct time. Push the cover back into the groove. You are done! As all parts are small, do the above on a folded towel, to avoid parts jumping off to the floor, becoming hard to find.
