A good introductory game for little gamers
I bought this for my then four-year-old nephew. Since I'm a gamer, he's always wanted to play the games I play, such as Super Mario, but doesn't know how. So after Googling about video games that are suitable for preschoolers, I stumbled on this. He also loves Diego, so that was a plus.Go Diego Go Safari Rescue is a good, introductory game for little, newbie gamers. Diego's voice is the same as the series. The storyline is linear and simple: Diego needs to rescue the elephants from the evil sorceress, and he helps the safari animals he encounters on his journey. The story isn't scary and very child-friendly. I haven't heard my nieces or nephew ( they've all played the game lol and they were all under the age of five at the time ) tell me that they got scared while playing it. Additionally, Diego doesn't "die" or fall off an edge, which saves kids from ample frustration. You don't need the nunchuk for this game which was favorable. All your child has to do is tilt the Wiimote, while holding it horizontally using both hands, in order to prompt Diego to walk/run, and the 2 button is to jump. That's it. You also get an on-screen prompt image of doing certain moves using the wiimote. The moves are uncomplicated and very simple, such as shaking the Wiimote back and forth in order to shake a tree. There are several types of moves which should entertain your kid and get their upper body moving. My nephew loved the rescue pack mini games - you get to choose from different items (such as a zip line) in order to aid you through your journey. It was fun seeing him maneuver the wiimote and choose the correct item. You also get to choose the correct animal that Diego is helping, so your child gets to learn the names of the different animals which I found pretty neat.As an adult, I found this game very repetitive and boring like Candy Land, but my nephew liked this game a lot. I have also bought Go Diego Go Great Dinosaur Rescue, Dora Saves the Crystal Kingdom, and Dora Saves the Snow Princess. The format, level design for each one of them was the same as Go Diego Go Safari Rescue, and I have regretted buying them. So for example instead of Diego sliding down a muddy cliff using a board, Dora gets to ice skate. This is a good game, but if you decide to buy it, then don't buy the rest.I believe kids above the age of 5 or 6 will get bored from it. Right now my nephew is six and he stopped playing with it several months ago because he'd much rather play Lego video games. This game is a good game for preschoolers and to introduce them to the world of gaming, but in my opinion, its appeal will only last a year or two. I hope you find this review helpful in basing your purchase decision.

A Year After Buying ...
I bought this game for the Wii, "Go Diego Go Safari Rescue" last Christmas for my (then) 5 year old boy and 4 year old girl. Now, after we've had and used it for almost a year, here are my impressions of the game:Pros:- The controls are simple enough to use and understand that both of my children were able to get the hang of it almost immediately, and only rarely need my help to get past a tough spot- The game has a real feelng of similarity the "Go Diego Go" TV program, so if your kids enjoy the TV show, they'll feel right at home in the game- While a lot of actions are somewhat repetitive from chapter to chapter, the kids didn't mind too much, and they got a little bit of exercise shaking and otherwise manipulating the remote- They got to simulate a lot of interesting things ... running, jumping, swinging, flying/gliding, and boatingCon:- Once they "won", they weren't interested in replaying it, as the game is pretty linear, even for small children. I get around that by putting it away for a few months and getting it out again- It's just a game, but there wasn't any real eductional value to itOverall, it's a good, fun game, but it's not something my kids wanted to play over and over. From what I've read, most of the other games in the "Go Diego Go" and "Dora the Explorer" series are very similar, varying mostly in locale rather than in activities. So, I've only bought this one game in the series. I'm happy with it, but if you already own a game in the series, you may want to try and see how this one (or other games in the series) compare, perhaps at a friends house or in a department store display, before buying.

Go Diego Go software review
Great Game!I bought this for a 4 & 3 yr old. The 4 yr old mastered it in a few days. The 3 yr old was confused by it. I thought when I purchased that it supported 2 players at once for the game. Only for the racing parts does it allow two players. So some initial confusion but for one player to do the game the 4 yr old LOVES it. I'd recommend it for a singular player and two players if a friend is over for a short time. Otherwise at this age... kids don't like to share and once involved it's hard to get them off the game. Well... this 4 yr old at least. He was proud of all his achievements and once I taught him the basics on how to read the screen (shows movement for the controller) he was off and running and I was suprised he didn't need my help but only a few times.

Great for really young kids!
My four and five year old love this game! It reminds me of an old Gameboy game, which is a good thing because most games these days are too complicated for young kids to pick up easily. This game shows you each motion you need to perform, and you pretty much only use one button on the remote. The thing I love the most is that Diego cannot fall off of cliffs, so my kids aren't frustrated with the stopping and starting and loss of life that happens in other games they've tried. They'll outgrow this one in a year or two, but for right now, it's loads of fun!

My 2-year-old can play it by himself!
Our 2 1/2 year-old is already a little gamer, and loves playing games on the Wii or iPhone, but we didn't have any Wii games that he could completely do on his own (he always needed help with setup, switching levels, or just playing in general). My husband read the reviews on this one and bought it, and within a week he had mastered the controls and beat the game on his own. We just had a new baby so it's nice to have something that he can do for 15-20 minutes while the baby is being fed or whatnot. Even though he has beaten it, he doesn't mind playing the same parts over and over. From an adult's perspective, the game looks incredibly boring, but for a young kid I think it is perfect because they feel awesome being able to do it well without much frustration.

A great game for my 3 1/2 year old
My 3 year old caught on very quickly how to play this game. There is a picture in the corner of the screen showing him how to do the moves of the game and he learned very quickly how to play it.
