Polishing compound
This is a plastics/acrylics polishing set with compounds and applicator sheets. I ended up using this on an old watch crystal my mom has. It's a woman's Timex from the 80s. It's nothing expensive or rare, it's just hers and she likes it. She asked me to change the battery, which I did and I wanted to clean it up for her as well. I was able to polish the metal but also was able to use this stuff to polish the crystal and get most of the scratches out. This stuff worked so well that I may be ordering more of this stuff in the future.

Reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
I got this polishing compound set to buff fine scratches out of black acrylic sheets. I did a quick test (~2 minutes buffing with each compound—long enough only the faintest residue to remain) so I could compare the effect of “before”, “fine” only, “fine” followed by “finish,” and “finish” only. In this quick test, the “fine” paste wasn’t able to remove the deeper scratches (none deeper than a very fine blond hair), but it may well the that case isn’t not meant to, but it did reduce and in some cases eliminate the shallower ones. I washed off the remaining residue before proceeding with the “finish” paste. It has a very subtle effect: after washing off the the “finish” residue, at first I didn’t think it had done anything, but then I noticed in the area I’d polished the very finest of scratches were perceptibly diminished. My conclusion is that this compound isn’t really suited for MY current needs. Prior to polishing with these compounds, the acrylic sheets, while covered with a network of very fine scratches, still very much have a mirror like finish; hence, for me, the amount of effort required for a very minor improvement isn’t worth it.I suspect they are, however, VERY well suited for someone who is completely refinishing a plastic or paint surface; using the compounds only after they’ve prepared the surface by sanding with successively finer grits and now desire to buff in the final high gloss.[Disclosure: I received this product for “free”—in quotes because the IRS considers the item’s retail value as taxable income for federal income tax purposes. A nice addition for any gundam builder
This polishing and finishing set is perfect for giving your gundams that extra detailed finish and/or polish to your seams. I liked that this set comes with everything you'll need to start performing those extra steps to make my gundams that much more "professionally" complete.I like building models, especially gundams, that integrate the parts' seams into the details of model's exterior; for example, the seams between parts lining up with the seams of the armor plating. Too often, however, my seams have that little bit of scuff from my trying to get the nubs removed and planed down to match the surface. This kit gives me that polishing compound and cloths that allow me to polish out the scuff marks to better match the manufactured surface gloss. The finishing compound is easy to use and comes in two finishes - Fine and Finishing. I used the different grades of finishing compound depending on the color of the part needing finishing. The manufacturer recommended use is to use the "Fine" for light parts and "Finishing" for dark parts. This worked out well and I was quite happy with the results. This will make extra work to complete your model but I am quite happy with the results and can readily recommend this kit if you want to go the extra step in improving the appearance of your models.

Now That I've Tried It, I May Be Looking For Larger Product Tubes
Not saying this won't go far, but know that these tubes are fairly small. Probably plenty for the average user to last some time, including scale modelers. I wanted it to polish out light scratches in plastic lenses and plastic watch crystals. So far, I've done three watch crystals, and the results are excellent. I'd previously used a product called "Crystal-Kleer". I works pretty well, but still leaves a slight haze that this Tamiya does not leave. Plus the Crystal-Kleer comes as a small brick, somewhat like a rouge block, so you have to dampen a soft cloth and rub that on the brick first. Only the brick does not age well, turning very hard, so not a long shelf life.I think what also makes this work better if being a two part process. Pretty much the same concept as using different grits of sandpaper or types of polishing rouge to finally achieve and smooth finish. Only this is much finer than anything else I have tried. You can actually get a scratch free finish if you take your time and follow instructions. It does come with nice precut applicator cloths. This is also something I suspect I will be shopping for but in a larger "bulk" quantity, and maybe larger sheets I can just cut to size if the job is small, but leave larger for larger jobs, including some automobile restoration applications.Overall, I'm glad I tried this. It works super well. I now just need to look for larger bulk tubes once these are used up, which may not take me very long. I can see using it for a number of work and hobby projects now that I've seen how nicely it does the job.

Not satisfied
It does work, BUT not the glossy finis I was expecting, and in my case I did a good job of sanding the surface beforehand (only if necessary).I wanted to renew the plastic cover of my car's instrument panel which had noticeable scratches, I used 400, 800, 1500, 2000, 3000 sandpaper, and the this 2-step product did help to leave a better finish, but I was not totally satisfied, not a glossy finish, not even a semi-gloss.
