desertcart.com: The Young Champion's Mind: How to Think, Train, and Thrive Like an Elite Athlete: 9781635650563: Afremow PhD, Jim: Books Review: The book helps the youngster to organize his mind. - The book is directly dedicated to sportive teenagers rather to their parents. I bought the book for my 10 years son, football (European) player. This book really helps the youngster to organize his mind. In my country the young sportive is involved in a very competitive environment since the early ages. Trainers want to win all matches, in order to prove the parents that the club is good and the paid price is correct. This might be a trap, as the child might arrive to reject the sport due to high pressure. In this book the child is taught to love the game, to organize his mind, to look for goals, to become a good team mate, to work hard in order to achieve his objectives. To help my child I read myself the book and explain to the little one the conclusions or I translate to him passages. I love the fact that the children love the explanations and is very receptive :). Review: Great book!! - My daughter is high level junior golfer and this book really helped in so many ways. I would imagine most of the readers are teens that are playing sports, but it is also very useful for parents of the younger kids that are in competitive sports. So much good information!

Great for our 13 year old Sports Star
Got this for our 13 year old daughter who is a multi-sport athlete. Great lessons and examples of overcoming mental obstacles throughout the book. Since getting it, she voluntarily brings up things from the book without prompting. Highly recommend for young athletes that want to improve their mental approach to competitive sports, improve their attitude, become a better teammate, and get out of their own way.
