Great quality for the money.
Let me start by saying that I purchased the c33 for my son, who has come to the age of owning his own knife. I've been carrying the e300 for the last 4-5 years as my everyday carry knife. I knew exactly what differences the c33 has compared to the e300 and purposely purchased it.The blade and bottle opener/clip is identical to my e300. I don't know if the blade is high carbon steel or not, but it does a great job of holding an edge. I've used and abused my knife everyday, from opening cardboard boxes and plastic packaging to gutting/skinning deer, antelope, and steelhead. Only twice have I abused the blade enough to create a nick, requiring to do some serious sharpening with a stone. For the most part I've been able to use a steel or ceramic hone to bring the edge back. The bottle opener works great, but the clip doesn't work well. I wouldn't recommend packing this knife on your belt loop. The c33 does not have the open assist. If you are buying this for yourself, spend the extra money on the c33l.Lastly, a plug to buy american. All Leatherman knives and multitools are made in Portland, OR. Leatherman is offering a price affective pocket knife, giving no one an excuse to buy a knife made in a different country. I'm not affiliated with them at all, but please support American jobs.

Sharpens to a razor's edge; incredible price
I've owned many, many inexpensive knives and as short, light folders go, this is one of my favorites. The steel gets incredibly sharp and holds an edge well. The carabiner makes an excellent bottle opener and the handle, heft, weight and feel of the knife are RIGHT in every way. This photo shows it alongside some of my favorite blades.I've owned three. One found its way into one of my prepacked kits for backpacking and I thought I lost it. I had other alternatives, but I ordered another one. I used it extensively on said trip, and my brother swiped it, preferring it over his own go-to knife. So I bought another. I still have two of them. My first one was purchased in about 2010 and it remains one of my top picks for favorite inexpensive folder. What's good:- Super sharp steel that is easy to get and keep sharp.- Comfortable handle grooved for a proper hold that is also made of very strong material.- Functional carabiner that serves as a bottle opener (if you like knives and beer) or as a clip to attach your knife with.- Relatively light and easy to carry.- 2.6" blade length and shape make it a functional as a pocket knife, a utility knife, a skinning blade, a whittling blade (not ideal, but serviceable).- Thumb stud makes one-handed deployment easy.- Strong liner lock.- Excellent clip held in place by three screws.- Amazing value. The cons:- Your friends may try to steal it.- OK... really, the handle doesn't have a rubbery, grippy texture, though it is TEXTURED. It's just not a 10 out of 10 because it could, possibly, slip in the hand.

Great Value in a Smal, US-Made EDC Knife
This Leather Crater c33 is a fantastic little working knife. It doesn't cost much, but it's quite rugged, takes a great edge, and is VERY well made. It has the features that really count, such as phosphor bronze bushings, light weight , (2.4oz), ergonomic handles, (even for my larger hands,) a tough, tip-up clip, and a great blade of USA-made Crucible 420 high-carbon stainless, (like Buck uses.) Best of all, unlike most cheap folders, there is absolutely no play in the blade, and with the phosphor bronze washers, and Torx pivot, it's likely to stay that way.I know some knife guys don't like 420HC, which I can understand in a higher-end knife, where you want the ultimate edge and retention. But for a daily-carry knife that's gonna see a lot of light to moderate use, and occasional heavy use, the C33 is perfect. I know knives pretty well, and appreciate many types. I own some nice knives from higher-end makers like Randall, Benchmade, Spyderco and ESEE as well as high-value workhorses like Opinel, Mora, (my favorite bargains,) and of course, Buck.I'd firmly place this Leatherman c33 in the latter category. I do a lot of work with knives, and my EDC gets A LOT of use. My c33 has been one of the best buys in knives I've made in a long time, and I'd highly recommend it. For price and weight reasons, it doesn't have full steel liners, and the stop pin is integrated into the liner lock, but the FRN handles are so tough that for basic use, this doesn't bother me. I wouldn't recommend any twisting motions with the knife, ( well, that's ALWAYS A BAD IDEA WITH A KNIFE,) because the FRN does flex a little bit, and you could possibly unlock the blade that way.Does anyone ever use the bottle opener on these things? I haven't, but i like the carabiner for keeping the knife close at hand while working. The pocket clip is right hand only, and tip down carry. It rides low, so you wont lose your knife in the woods or at work. I've also noticed that the name Leatherman means people tend to see this as a tool, not a knife. Despite its bladeshape, i dont think anyone would find this little knife threatening.I would advise buyers to avoid the "Launcher," version of this knife: one more mechanism to break, and believe me, the regular c33 opens plenty fast. Besides, at nearly twice the price, the C33x isn't nearly the same value. For that kind of price, (and a slightly larger blade,) I'd recommend the Kershaw Skyline Knife with Textured Black G-10 Handle. It's a great USA-made pocketknife that is a little bigger and tougher, with incredibly good Swedish steel, (another great $30-$40 knife, heavier & stronger w/ Swedish steel would be the amazing US - made Buck Vantage TM Avid Knife) But for a bargain in a lightweight, little EDC knife, this c33 is a very easy recommendation.

Another great Leatherman product
Great blade! 420hc steel 2.5 inch blade with a thumb stud for one handed deployment. Nice foldable caribiner clip for belt loop carry or a pocket clip for more discrete carry.

Great quality blade for $20!
I've been carrying one of these as part of my EDC kit for three years now. Quality is excellent. I was a little wary of the glass and nylon scales before I bought the first one,...

Not bad at all
Smaller and thinner than I was expecting but not a disappointment. Feels good in your hand. USA made is a plus. Decent for EDC.

One of my favorite knives. Great texture/grip
One of my favorite knives. Great texture/grip, nice and extremely sharp right out of the packaging, carbiner option makes it feel more tactical for the price.

Disappointed
This knife is great in theory. As someone who drinks a lot of beer, it comes in handy having a bottle opener, and of course you can't go wrong with a built-in carabiner.

comes pretty stiff from the factory
comes pretty stiff from the factory. a little lube and adjustment with torque screw it flicks well. the notch in the handle allows the thumb to get to the short thumb stud.
