Shipment was timely (2 days from order date). Extremely happy and surprised by the quality, fit, and finish of the sword. The 1st time I held it, I knew that this was no cheap toy. Blade was substantial, oiled, and sharp, passing the paper test, and the hair (forearm) test. Clear Hamon line, and Hi was particularly crisp, and the thickness of the blade. Another pleasant surprise, was that the tsuba was actual metal, instead of plastic. Feels great in my hand(s), well balanced. Very nice piece, right down to the storage-bag, very pleased!Though I haven't tried cutting anything with it yet, and may not for a while, I have no doubt, that in Doug Marcaida's words, "It will cut" :)

First let me say that I am by no means an expert in this kind of sword. However, I have purchased a few Katanas from different places (all for display and for fun).The balance on this sword feels nice. While I have no training or skill in this area, based on other swords I have, this one feels very natural and practical. The quality in the steel looks very good with the edge and the lines are straight and clean. The handle and attachments, wrapping, and overall product is excellent. This is the third sword from handmade swords that's have purchased all with the same great result.Is this a mass produced item? I can't tell and that's that's the real beauty of it. It definitely looks and feels like a sword that somebody put significant time and effort into making. I am more than happy with it.If you're looking for a katana to display and to have as a serious grown up item to respect and enjoy, this item is exactly as advertised.

Junk , handle was shipped damaged, I should of known better.

The katana is marvelous alone it would come as a 5 star, but the Saya...that is where it looks like they cut corners to sell such a marvelous blade at such an amazing price.The loose fit is unsettling, I already had one mishap when the blade fell from the Saya only due to upward momentum.That being said, the blade is SHARP STURDY and the Suka is comfortable in hand.Would buy from handmade swords again!

I collect expensive handmade differentially hardened clay tempered katana'. I took a chance figuring it would be a fun super cheap sword to cut tatami matt with at the least thinking I would have to sharpen it. It shocked the hell out of me as it is in line with Musashi's extreme quality control and the ray skin is gorgeous! The hamon is hand made but it actually looks amazing like the real thing?!?!? this is the best artificial hamon I have ever seen. To the untrained eye sitting along side my Ronin elite katana it's hard to tell it's not a true hamon. The polish of the blade is extremely impressive and it came extremely sharp out of the box. I will be buying more from handmade sword and Amazon!! Thank you!👍

This sword is magnificent; It is sturdy, yet has proper flex and is razor sharp.. Be careful to any newbs who get this and just start twirling it around like you've been a swordsman for all of your life!!! You could very easily inflict a mortal wound to say... your neck... with one wrong move.. Get a practice wooden sword as well to satisfy your urges to be a back yard ninja; this is NOT A TOY by any stretch... The artwork on this piece is pleasing as well; simple, yet stylish...

I ordered this katanna on 11/9 and got it 11/13 standard shipping. And im not a collector but always wanted one. I'm fascinated with the history and the samurai traditions. And with this sword i have something to see and touch. Very clean and well balanced and sturdy and one thing i was worried about was finger prints on the blade. But to my relief and amazement not one print and it was wrapped in plastic wrap. I feel like it was made for me personally and if mass produced i don't care! I live Bushido! syonata...
