All the features I wanted.
With the advance of streaming technology over the years, the old basic amp wasn't cutting it. Over the past years I've used a DNLA server , Bluetooth adapter, Chromecast audio and seamless, quality streaming was not happening. With the purchase of an iPhone, I decided to get an AirPlay compatible device so I could stream anywhere in range of wifi. Works better than I expected! The robust features and ability to view the program menus on a tv display over the HDMI output make complex configurations much easier. The A/B speaker setup was tricky because they are treated as zones out of the box for surround sound. You can change this to standard A/B zones by setting the program to 2 channel stereo. Once you set it up, you can even control volume independently, which is nice because I have indoor living area speakers and outdoor. The only caveat to this is when you control audio from your phone, it will only adjust zone A. This doesn't matter too much because if I'm inside, I can use the remote that came with the amp. The other feature I really like, but did not expect, is the ability to hear both channels of stereo through one speaker channel. This helps outdoors where there is no left/right channels. I can now hear everything in a song. There's another thing about volume control with your phone and the Apple music app - you apparently can't exceed a certain level. I downloaded the Yamaha 'AV Controller' app and it gives me nearly complete control, including volume through the entire range. I am very happy with the purchase and would buy it again. The sound quality is great, I've compared this with other high end amplifier reviews, audiophile and reddit board posts and it compares favorably. You need to be able to read a manual and figure out programming to use advanced features though.

Solid performer for typical HT setup, good value
The RX-V485 pairs well with my ancient DCM Time Windows, sounds great, saved me a ton of money vs. buying a quality soundbar surround system. The backwards "db attenuation" default volume meter is a bit quirky (I did eventually find a menu option to switch it to a more conventional 0-100 or whatever), and of course doesn't appear on screen for Smart TV or devices connected directly to TV vs. passing through the A/V receiver, so it would be nice if it had more graphical feedback on the front panel (the numbers are a little hard to read through smoked glass from across the room).ARC works fine, but some of the control smarts have kinks that I haven't quite worked out yet (I use a Harmony remote, so don't really want the TV and A/V receiver trying to control each other over HDMI). It generally does what's needed without a lot of fuss. Can't speak to 4k switching - all my 4k stuff is direct to TV (for now). 5.1 is as much as I need because I don't have all the speakers, etc., for 7.1, so why pay more? This included everything I needed and then some, including the potential for directly paired wireless rear channel speakers (I use a basic Rocketfish system for that now) should I be so inclined (or stumble on a bag o' money I'd forgotten about).

Great Product, Definitely Not Plug & Play
I am not a home audio genius and neither is my husband. Due to a lightning strike last week our DVD player with integrated surround sound got fried so we had to replace both components, the surround sound and the dvd/Blu-ray player. Unbeknownst to us, this receiver requires a subwoofer with an amplifier, so that was an additional purchase we had to make. The “quick setup guide” was not exactly helpful with solving some more technical issues during setup and we had to go online to refer to the actual owner’s manual. And when we hit another brick wall, we called in a friend who knows home audio- and it still took another 3 hours to get it correct. I can’t even tell you how many times we had to run the YPAO to find out why the rear surround sound speakers weren’t working. The product itself is great, sounds amazing and works perfectly with the TV, dvd/Blu-ray, Firestick and subwoofer, the remote is easy to use, and the wireless connection setup to the internet was quite easy. Just don’t expect a “plug & play” experience.

Make sure output is correct! Great sound and function.
Despite being quite familiar with AV equipment I had a bit of a difficult time setting up the functions correctly. The situation is somewhat aggravated by numerous decoders, source options, and hidden features/options in the various devices that work together but need to be setup separately. This receiver has an source info option that displays the number of incoming channels and signal info. This is how I found out my TV was only outputting 2 channel audio and it took quite a bit of time to finally sort through the issue.Every TV is somewhat different; however, I wanted to alert those who might think they have everything setup correctly only to have the receiver "upscale" or decode the audio from a 2 channel source into 5.1. Make sure you understand how to set the audio output so that the receiver is obtaining a multichannel source. Mine involved setting an option to bitstream instead of PCM and then selecting DOBY DIGITAL from another menu option (from the TV options). Once done the receiver "signal info" showed multichannel and I then proceeded to select the appropriate signal management from the receiver. The sound is fantastic – especially considering the price of the this unit – once everything is setup correctly. I wanted to make people aware that may have less experience to utilize the signal info feature to make sure they have a proper setup because without this feature I would have had little reference to the problem I was experiencing and would have thought the receiver was not delivering. 4 stars because the unit did not come with a manual and accessing the important information to setup correctly is hidden away. Also, no separate subwoofer level settings – just off or on. Otherwise, very happy with the sound and the receiver integrates seamlessly with the function of the TV, turning on when the TV turns on and back off only with the TV remote.

Produto excelente. Transporte péssimo!
O produto é excelente e, por sorte, funciona perfeitamente. O problema foi o transporte. Conforme mostram as fotos, a caixa veio amassada. Deve ter sofrido um impacto tremendo, uma vez que chegou a causar dano ao aparelho.
