fancy a brew
an original red clay Brown Betty, makes a cracking cuppa... this size holds in excess of four large mugs of tea and pours nicely unless you get really over exuberant.... I have managed to chip mine around the lid area as I caught it with the lid, but it does not affect the usage and it was my fault, can't blame the product..... needs to be hand washed as they don't really recommend dishwasher usage... but all said and done, after spending small fortunes over the past ten years on Portmeirion pots that A, don't hold as much... B/ have all crazed and or cracked... (my parents have also had two which did the same)... will stick with the old fashioned remedy from now on

Needs replacing after only 10 months
I LOVE this teapot - it's the right size, pours beautifully and looks good.BUT, after only 10 months, the glaze is badly cracked all round the pot and lid, with white deposits along the cracks. It has only ever been washed by hand - mainly just emptied and rinsed. We are now putting the pot in a washing-up bowl whenever it's filled, just in case it cracks apart spilling boiling water. And are having to look for a new teapot

A very good teapot and a fantastic classic design
I think I've given this teapot about 6-7 months of use before writing a review. It's been perfect so far for all my cups of Earl Grey. It looks nice (I love the shape of the lid, reminds me of a teapot you would find in the Victorian era), traditional and humble teapot. I personally love the brown colour of this teapot. The shape of the lid is very interesting as I don't think I found anyone else who makes the lid in kind of a bump shape, usually it's the more modern flatter designs. There are some others that have a slight bump but I really like the height of this one. I also like the handle, I notice most other brown betty designs have a perfectly round handle but I like the slight corner at the top on this one, it add a big difference in the aesthetics for me, I imagine it give more grip with your thumb as you pour as well but as to whether it makes much of a difference I don't know.It pours very well and doesn't drip or spill while pouring out the tea. The lid on the top doesn't fall off while pouring either so you can safely use it without this worry.Other than this I can't really think of anything else to mention. I've had tea in this for an hour and it's still warm (I'm the only one drinking with it so It takes a while to get through by myself)Oh and the one made for 6 cups can fill about 3.6 mugs (In my case), or almost 4 if you fill it closer to the top. So when you buy, don't mistaken cups as mugs because the cups is referring to traditional teacups, and a mug can hold 100ml more than a cup in some cases. If you don't know, get the 6 cup version. It also depends on how much you fill your cups, I don't have milk in my tea so that's probably why I get around 3.7-3.8 cups of tea, if you use milk you can easily fill 4 mugs as the milk will use up some volume in the cup.And one of the best things is it's supporting local British businesses. The teapot even says made in England at the bottom of the pot and the name Adderley Ceramics (Made as part of the teapot, not the sticker).

SImply Perfect
I have been looking for the perfect teapot for more than forty years and then then this arrived in the post this morning. For such a seemingly simple device as a teapot there is a very surprising number of things that can go wrong, so I'll explain how this one gets it all right. The lid stays on when you pour. It doesn't rattle or fall onto the table or floor, shattering into pieces. The aperture into which the lid fits is large enough to enable you to put tea leaves into it without them sticking to the damp rim of the pot. It is also large enough to allow a man's hands inside for proper cleaning (and yes, you SHOULD clean the inside of a teapot, thoroughly and regularly). It pours smoothly into the cup and does not dribble tea all down the front of the spout and onto the table cloth. The handle is shaped in such a way that it's easy to grip and it does not slide through your fingers when you lift a full pot.Although I conceed people's needs vary, the size is perfect for me. The product description says 6 cups and that works out to be about four UK standard sized mugs, in my estimation. In short, this is the nicest teapot I have ever owned, it's MADE in the UK (go to a high-street kitchen shop and see how many of the teapots have "Designed in Britain" stickered on them, unintentionally drawing your attention to how they were made in Far-Eastern sweatshops), in Stoke-on-Trent, as it should be, and if you want a pot for actually making tea, rather than for decorative reasons, then I cannot conceive how you will ever find a better one.
