Star Wars Hero Series X-Wing Fighter Vehicle

Wow, people hate this, but if you know what you're buying then you can make an informed choice. The X Wing comes unassembled, so in the box you may not realize but the S foils DO NOT OPEN. So yeah, if you didn't realize that, you'd be upset by this. But if you get that the wings do not open, you are good to go.First, this thing is HUGE. And I now have it hanging from my son's ceiling with Star Wars decals all over the place. Looks amazing. Seriously. The plastic is on the thin side, and only the landing gear moves. But it looks so cool. Not sure why there are no other ships in this series and size, but my son and I both love it.

For what it is, I actually love this X-Wing. I can see why someone expecting all the bells and whistles would be disappointed, but that was never the point of this toy. There's countless other renditions of the X-Wing that are more detailed and more playable and can be used with the action figures. This is not that, this serves another purpose - simple play for a child, or a cool display piece for a collector. It's very light weight at barely 2 1/2 pounds, so it can easily be flown around by a child, or it can also be easily hung from a ceiling (which is what I plan to do, but for now it's sitting atop my bookshelf). I wouldn't have gotten it at full price, but for $16.79 (price when I got it) it was well worth it and I'm totally pleased with it.

Like another reviewer said, not sure what the negative reviews are all about. It doesn't make noise, it's wings don't open but it looks like an x-wing fighter and it's as tall as my son. He loves it and that's all that matters. If you are an adult collector, go buy adult replica and leave this big bad kids toy alone.

4.5 stars. At the current Amazon price of less than $17, this is a bargain. Yes its wings don't open, yes it can't hold an action figure, but as a static model the perportions and scale are awesome. X-wings didn't always fly or sit around with the wings open. At this price, serious modelers should buy 2 or three and mod this and create the all important open wing version. I have two, one in hand in the box and one on the way. Once I see how it looks out of the box (I always buy one and keep it in the box) I will deside if I get the third and make an open / closed version. Detailing and painting this will also make it that much more realistic.UPDATE: 1-9-15Out of the box these still impress. A skilled modeler can rework this item and turn it into something really special. I now have three, and as of this update (1-9-15) the price has jumped WAY up to $44. I purchased my 3 for under $17.At $44, this should only be a consideration if you are a serious modeler and are looking for a base shell to build off of. As a Toy, the price is WAY over inflated for what you get. Amazon had it as a steal at $17. I believe a fair price would be around $25.For modelers looking to rework this, please note that there is a decent site located at ***.therpf.com (replace the *** with www) that discusses the prose and cons of this. There is a high nerd alert as some forum content is geared toward the very intricate nature of the details required to make this a movie-ready-like model. The biggest hurdle for many, myself included, is the material this is made from. The type of plastic is fairly flexible, and not many glues or adhesives/ paints will stick to it. Proceed with caution!

This is a toy, more than a detailed model. But the level of detail is surprisingly good, especially considering the price. I'm planning to hang this on the wall in my office, and I think it'll look great.One small catch on assembly -- if the guns won't go on easily, then you've got them on the wrong wing! The instructions didn't make it clear (or at least I didn't see it) that left and right are not interchangeable. I struggled for the longest time before it dawned on me that I should try the other side.

These were Christmas presents for our boys. While they look cool, and they are super big, they aren't much fun to play with. It is just a big piece of plastic. It doesn't have any compartments that open, or sounds. I think it was a little pricey for what you get. My husband will probably end up with one as a decoration in his Star Wars office.

This is a cool toy if your kid is any similar to mine he will love the stories one that he can pick up and fly around it's very light couple pounds it is a little flimsy don't wise but if you pay what I paid for this which is right around $20 then it's just one of those they can play with for a couple months and I'll get the money out of it it's a really nice looking Star Wars piece that has a couple pieces that you have to put together and some stickers for it but aside from that. I provided a picture it's a very fun toy to play with and actually got stuck in a Christmas tree because R2-D2 did not know how to fly

This is amazing bought it for my son who is 6 and is star wars mad he loves it great price bigger than i was expecting which is even better

Excelente para juguete de niños o para decoración.Colgado del techo con hilos transparentes se ve muy bien, sobre todo por el tamaño de la nave, es muy grande en verdad!Tiene buen detalle de diseño, aunque algunas estampas podrían mejorar.R2D2 es solamente un domo que se coloca sobre la nave, pero cumple la función.
