Great budget burr grinder
If you’ve gone down the coffee accessory rabbit hole at all you’ll know that things can get real expensive real quick. And if you are into brewing the best cup of coffee you possibly can, you’ll know that burr grinders are the gold standard for the industry. Most grinders at this price point are pretty lackluster, either lacking features or using cheap materials that make it less durable and less reliable. This grinder is surprisingly well equipped for its price, with a burr set that grinds very consistently, nice build material that doesn’t feel cheap, and convenient accessories for different uses. My only complaints are fairly minor. I’m not enthused by the espresso cradle design, as it doesn’t quite contain the grinds well. I’m also not the biggest fan of the grind time/cups setting system. It feels a little arbitrary what constitutes a cup so you’re just sort of picking a number and hitting start. Grind time setting is fine, but I would like the option to just run it until I decide to stop. Lastly, the grounds contain has a rubber lid that is sort of awkward to fit into the grinder with it fitted on, and I find it’s easier to just take the lid off and grind into the open container that way. Ultimately, if this grinder cost around the 120-150 range, I would look at its design and functionality more critically, but for its current price of 89 dollars, it’s really a pretty solid value for someone who wants to step up their coffee game without spending the eye-watering prices many of the more popular enthusiast brands charge.

Nice features
We're really more tea drinkers than coffee but we enjoy a good cup of coffee a couple times per week. I know, we're not really the target audience. Because we're not the target audience, I find this to more work than I often want to put into coffee. I don't want my beans sitting in the hopper losing their flavor because I'm not brewing frequently, so I either have to put the right amount of beans into the hopper or overfill it and then pour the excess beans back into the package. I inevitably end up having to pick up beans. Perhaps having some guidance on the hopper so I know how much to put in so there is less excess would be helpful?I also like to switch coffees - frequently. I pretty much don't have the same coffee twice in a row. Isn't that supposed to be a big plus to the grinder? I can certainly do that with this grinder. However, there doesn't appear to be a way to keep from getting a hearty amount of the previous grind in there. I can't clean out the burrs well enough to get all the beans out. Any way to improve the ability to clean it out after a grinding?Mostly, this seems like a rather nice grinder. It's relatively small and the touch screen controls are actually easy to use once you get the hang of long pressing to switch from cups to time on the grind volume. The 51 different grind settings are nice but it's even nicer that they give novices like me some guidance on which settings to use for which brewing method. You twist the whole hopper assembly to change the settings and that is mostly good although it gets tough to twist at the espresso end. The plastic materials are prone to static electricity in dry climates, so you'll need a damp cloth to clean them out well.I tried out the adapter that grinds straight into my espresso basket. The grinder auto-detects that it's there and switches to a timed grind. You still need to set the grind coarseness and the time though. It worked pretty well. I needed to play with the time to get the right amount of coffee - longer was better, for me. It was a little messy. Some of the grind missed the basket, or rather, spilled over the edge no matter how long the grind lasted. Still, it's pretty cool to be able to turn anything into espresso and shoot it straight into the basket. The whole assembly appears to be well made and I have little doubt that it will work for a long time given the number of times I will use it. The price point seemed a little high to me but I see they are now offering it for about 10% less, which looks about right.

Amazing grind at this price point
Can't say I have a ton of experience in burr grinders, but I first owned a Capresso Infinity...it did it's job. When my girlfriend and I broke, I left that with her and bought a Baratza Encore. It was an immense leap forward for grinding my beans for espressos. Grind size and consistency was a world ahead of the Capresso. I have used the Baratza now for 4 years of pretty heavy use since both my kids are coffee drinkers too. Fast forward to the Kidisle...I was offered the Kidisle to test. It's performance has far exceeded my expectations so far....I have used it for a little over a month now. I'm not sure I have a bad thing to say about it. I pour 19g of beans into my Baratza and it takes about 1 min 15 secs to grind the beans on setting #7. I pour the same amount in the Kidisle and it takes about 10.2 seconds on #4 setting. The Baratza I have to stand there and hold the portafilter under the spout until finished. The Kidisle, I pop in the portafilter, hit the start/stop button and walk away. But performance trumps everything, right? Again the Kidisle grinds win. They are fluffier and a little more consistent compared with the Baratza. (I did thoroughly clean the Baratza before doing a side-by-side test, it's components looks like they're brand new when cleaned, but there could be some wear & tear issue.) But at this price point, I highly recommend the Kidisle burr grinder to any espresso/latte drinker for it's ability to quickly produce a fine, consistent grind. I'm keeping the Baratza, but for now, am exclusively using the Kidisle.
