Directed Smart Start DSM200

I see a lot of bad reviews from people who didn't understand how this module works. The DSM200 works as an add-on module for your EXISTING remote start system. It's going to require you to have either a compatible remote start module or full alarm already installed in your car. This module connects to viper using cellular (3G) in order to communicate with and start your car.The thing people don't understand is that this will not work if you install it yourself. You have to be a Directed/Viper/DEI dealer in order to activate it, which defeats the purpose of buying the module yourself. It's almost always best to buy it from the installer as some installers don't even want to install it for you unless you buy it from them. You really can't blame the Amazon seller for that.

This was one of the best and most important product that I have purchased on this site, especially that it has been one of our coldest winters by far. It does not matter if 1 block 2 or even blocks away the car will start. As I am writing this my husband said when you are at work and he take the car. he wants to see what is the distance that it can work. But my far this will be the best recommended product to purchase. By the way I hardly ever give anything a full 5 star but this is the BEST EVER

I installed this unit back on 02/2013, at the time I paid $49.00 activation fee. Service has been very unreliable from day one and was planning on cancelling rather than renewing, however out of curiosity I went to check the renewal rates hoping that perhaps the rate had substantially come down, especially since service was so poor, well much to my surprise the rate had gone up to $69.00, needless to say I did not renewed and instead cancelled the service. So be warned...the activation fee that you pay this year may not be the same for next year. BTW, according to their customer service dept., if you don't cancel the service, it will automatically renew and the current rates.

I love my smart start. I'm putting one on my other two cars now as well. Not sure how people have problems. My unit works flawlessly. Keep in mind this works on a cell signal. If your phone has no service and you park your car where it can't get cell signal. It won't work. It's not rocket science but damn close.

It works, but sometimes the app is very slow to send commands to the vehicle. It will have a spinning circle on the screen for awhile before sending a command.

We use this product with our android phones, Sometimes it is slow, but we like the fact that we can start the car anywhere. I would recommend this product.

The description left out 2 things1- there is a month or yearly charge to use this app and it's $$And2- ITS ONLY THE APP you have to buy the ACTUAL CAR STARTER IN ADDITION!

This is my second alarm system. My wife loves this starter system because she can warm her car at a distance parking lot and won't have to drive in a cold car. We would recommend the Directed Smart Start DSM200.
